Hello everyone

I'm an INTP with high rating INT and fairly low P. I'm currently studying engineering (which is the best decision I ever made) and working part time doing a fairly frustrating paper pusher type job(the reason why I am studying). My favorite subject of the moment is digital logic, I just really love it - it just seems to click with the way my head works and I love problem solving, it's really satisfying.

I am interested in home brewed beer/spirits and have recently realized that cooking can be more interesting than I originally thought. I don't like fiction or philosophy (unless it's physics).

I forget to eat, have social interactions, do housework because i get easily distracted by awesome stuff! I am kind of lazy, I expect things to be easy for me and if they aren't I get kind of angry and give up, or make it my mission to complete whatever it is above and beyond expectation.

I guess I joined this forum because there is a distinct lack of INTPs in the people close to me, and it would be good to find some like minded friends and share life experiences (...and any awesome things people have discovered that I don't know about yet!).

As a girl I would really love to hear from some fellow female INTPs! I suppose I would also like to understand myself better and hopefully learn from that?

Cheers!

Well I'm new here too (and not a female sorry :P) but: Welcome!

I was also surprised to find that cooking is a good way to experiment, at the same time be creative and in the end reap the delicious rewards.

Thank you! Yes, I used to forget to eat all the time because I'd be too distracted with other things, but now I'll have to be careful not to get fat from my own delicious experiments!

Now when you say fairly low p.. how certain are you that you are an INTP? (out of curiosity)
have you looked at the INTJ?

Perhaps what she's saying is that her "perceiving function" is rated at less than say 60% or 70% but higher than 50%. In any event, welcome to the forum.

I think it's fantastic that you're studying engineering. I'm a female and am a tax attorney.

Yes, you are right, I've done the test a few times over the years and the P is always around 60 or so which is relatively low compared with the other values.

ElvenVeil, yes I did really think that I might be INTJ at one point! I do relate to some of the INTJ traits, but I'm really disorganised and indecisive, I just don't think it sits as well as the INTP description does. Who knows though! Let me know if any J-ness comes through in my posts - I might have to rethink it ;)

When I saw this I was like love? I never use love, I use like... and am good at, enjoy but love? What would make an INTP do this, what great skill and connection must he have with his Fe. How can I acquire this knowledge, and how was it bestowed to him. For was it upbringing that allowed this young man to use the word love?

Then I saw this "v"

Oh... he is a she. Not to stereotype females or anything but even INTJ females show emotion.

Ps: welcome.

PPs: don't look at the PPPS.

PPPs: your not welcome.

PPPPS: Ignore him ^ he is a jerk

Rest assured; you're not the only one here who neglects 'important' activities. I see this as the trademark of the INTP. :p We exhibit sheer brilliance if we can get around to it, without being distracted by all the lovely things there are to contemplate. A hearty welcome to you!

Right behind you, sipping tea.
Hey, I'm female! *laugh* And pretty much the same as far as INT being high and P being low. It's a good place to be, isn't it?

If you're looking to understand yourself better, and you like non-fiction (MBTI floats your boat, I assume), here are a couple of recommendations:

Please Understand Me II by David Keirsey
(I laugh so hard that I roll whenever I read this just because it's so accurate.)
Type Talk by Otto Kroeger and Janet M. Thuesen
(Also very amusing; full of anecdotes about different types interacting.)

You may have read both of them already, but if not, have fun.

Glad you've found something you really enjoy doing! Isn't it exciting to go to class every day and study/apply concepts that really interest you?

Anyway. All that to say, welcome!

I'm female. I minored in Philosophy in college though. I really enjoy it for the same reasons you enjoy digital logic. It involves solving problems. I think a lot of people get into it because they enjoy arguing but I enjoy it because every word you use and the very way in which you use each word has an affect on the meaning of what you are saying. I find language fascinating.

Good luck with the engineering and getting out of the paper pushing business. Cooking is surprisingly enjoyable isn't it? About halfway through college I decided that I was tired of eating shit so I started cooking and developed a knack for it. I like eating something new and then trying to recreate it at home.

Welcome.
