At last a place where I can understand someone and they can understand me. Im pretty new to forums but Im excited to get to comunicate with some like minded individuals.
Ive only in the last six months learned of MBTI. It has been a very wonderful experience. Finally understanding so many things about myself and others.
When I first tested I landed INTJ repeatedly even with multiable different tests. Then after talking to a very well educated advacate of the MBTI they told me I was in fact a INTP. And after further research have (happily) excepted my INTPness and am ready to talk to others with similar minds.

Those two types (INTP and INTJ) actually report repeatedly dissimilar functions in their top four slots. People need to stop solely relying on the tests and letters (those types are far more at odds than the three communal letters would indicate); cognitive functions are paramount. Anyway, welcome! I'll close by saying this forum is replete with many different introverted and intuitive types. Stretch your legs, though, pour some coffee and have at it.

Or better yet! Stop trying to fit yourself into an inaccurately and crudely defined box and sit down and play some chess.

Mrrrrmmmmm, Bishops.

The MBTI is based upon preferences. Preferences change. I have no doubt that I was once, decades ago, an INTJ, but now I am classified marginally as an INTP.

Welcome to the forum and the odds are that you can find those with a lot of similarities, but the things that make us interesting to each other are not our similarities, but rather the range of differences that can occur amongst the similar.

Simply answering one question "wrong" on those free online tests can tip you into an INTJ. I once ticket false/low on "often late for appointents", which turned me into an INTJ. I realise that is more an aquired trait, rather than a preference. It's strange though that INTJ has a totally different function order from an INTP. In reality I guess we all are variably somewhere between total P and J.

I agree. I'm very split on the J and P, because I like knowing what's going to happen next (J) but at the same time I'm a procrastinator, I'm late to appointments, etc (P).

The tests are reliably unreliable. Functions are the key to understanding.

Welcome otherwise.

the fact that you question your own type and don't trust the tests is symptomatic of a more open-mindedness and openness to possibilities, a characteristic displayed by the "P" types;

I remember a couple years ago when I first found out about "INTP" and finally I did not feel so "weird" anymore-- knowing there was a whole category of people out there who thought and felt the same as I did...

next you should try to "type" all your friends and family in your life and then examine the interaction between those types and your own (INTP)-- that might bring you some more comfort in knowing the ways different personality types interact, get along, and don't get along.
