My name is tom. I live in northern Ny. Im a chef and a drunk. I love being an INTP but realize its limitations. so when I first learned of MBTI, I vowed to never get complacent. I can now speak to anyone, quite well. I may have changed types a bit. Think I may be a XXTP now. Im at least getting close. Im trying to blend all the characteristics I want, and rid myself of the unwanted. Only thing that makes life interesting. lol

I joined because I feel that this world is run by INTP's behind the scenes. With the overly gregarious and vain being the front men.

read "None dare call it a conspiracy" by Grey.

This world is being ruined by "us", and the majority of us not participating need to get our shit together.

well enough about me and my delusions of grandeur.

Nice to be around others similar to me

Nice to meet you. I'm sorry to ask this, but I'm very curious: Have you ever cooked while drunk? How did it taste?

Also, what do you think are the limitations of the INTP type?

Welcome to the forum :D

Never cooked at work drunk. Once after like 3 beers, and I messed up alot at something akin to breathing. While drunk, I have a few dishes down to an art.

I think we INTP's are arrogant. we have every right to be. But at a point you have to let it go.

we are afraid of anything that doesnt feel safe. We live in a country vastly safer than perhaps any other in history. At least outside certain milieus. I could go on, but suffice to say, we are brilliant at figuring out what we wont like about something, and dull at seeing a possible profitable outcome.

We are in our heads. You cant be daydreaming all the time. We have an ability like no other to utilize our third eye. But we let it interfere with our sleep. possibly put us out of touch in dangerous situations. Its an invaluable tool, but at certain tasks, i.e. a gunfight, not advisable.

we are terse even when we lose our reticence. I have been called a brainiac in like 3 languages. Have to learn to just talk. They like the metaphors though. be funny.

I will put together an entire thread about this if some of you think my perspective is fresh at all. I doubt I will consider it so after I read around a bit.;)

So you're here to share the inky, dirty depths of your mind?

That place where original thought meets the waters of mind in darkened jets of turmoil as the psychopomp flees detection?

Splendid!

Welcome,

there are already a few drunks here and a few former drunks such as myself - so you should feel at home - if you don't already...

That's interesting, it was almost the complete opposite for me. When I discovered MBTI and started thinking of myself as a 'type' I became extremely complacent and allowed myself to almost completely withdraw into my head in social situations because it was just 'who I was'. I'm slowly trying to turn that around, however.

Oh and welcome!

I accepted it for a bit, thought it was wrong after more tests, and have somewhat settled on being INXX. I still think that the danger of MBTI is to become trapped in the framework and description of your type.
