Question is in the forum title.

A few nights ago I have a dream where a friend and I was discussing how we can colonize the moon. We opened a blueprint/map thing where the diagrams are projected as some sort of 3d object.

One of the colony modules are algae tanks that are arranged in an interesting pattern. The algae acts as a source of oxygen and food since it's the only stuff that's able to photosynthesize off the sunlight on the lunar surface. I'm not sure if I can realize the vision though as I have no engineering skills. Lunar friendly algae is a bit easier to make though.

I think this isn't peculiar with scientists and other creative people. Here Kekulé figured out the cyclical structure of the compound benzene when he dreamed about a snake eating its own tail.

The physicist Wolfgang Pauli's dream-vision of the world clock is another pretty cool one: http://www.sheilaomalley.com/?p=2609

I dreamt once that I was showing a member from this forum a film I'd made. I thought the overall coherence of the scene in terms of imagery, setting, editing, 'camera' movement, theme, etc, was impressive enough that I wrote a screenplay for a short story around it (with the dream as the closing scene) for a grad school assignment a few years later. Self-fulfilling prophecy ftw. :phear:

Otherwise, my dreams that have most impressed me are usually more to do with vividness and relevance to personal situations.

This is indeed cool. I liked how his repressed aspects communicated in a way that his dominant intellectual side can understand.

Nice! I guess artists have it too.

Me too. I usually ignore them if I can easily find their source during my waking hours. It's usually the dreams that leave me stumped that tend to stick in my mind and my dream journals.

I dreamt about developing the first wireless USB Flask drive a couple weeks ago. Then when I looked to see if it had been done already, I had become extremely pissed off.

Don't worry. Inventions are usually one step at a time affairs rather than groundbreaking ones :)

Many creative and intelligent minds have interesting dreams; inventions are just one type of interesting dream to me though the most tangible to put a finger on. I often can't remember my dreams but when I do remember it they are always about coming to grips with something in my life and are extremely abstract.

Objects in the mirror might look closer than they
I hardly ever remember my dreams so i can't really say but yeah i had some of course. I'm kinda jealous in this aspect of my gf cuz she remembers so well every damn detail of what ocurred in hers.
I wake up with some notion of what ocurred but usually just for the ones that were more realistic and related to some concern i had.

Sometimes. I often have more waking dreams this way. Like my mind is wandering, I fall asleep, and then have a brainwave "Why can't we do things like THAT? THAT would solve all the issues."

Ah yes, I experience the same way. The worst part is that the concept fades away within each waking minute that goes past.

not productively, but just seeing ones imagination unleashed is great. there are periods when my dreams are the only thing capable of maintaining faith in my creativity.

-woke up suddenly knowing exactly a lightbulb worked.
-a design of a sailboat that combined the rudder and keel so it could traverse in more shallow waters.
-woke up striving to invent the ability to transfer physical images to a computer, then realized that it had already been invented.
-an equation to calculate a number of dimensional interactions, only to forget it instantly.
It feels like everytime I discover something amazing, someone already did over a hundred years ago...

I woke up about a week ago with the dream fresh in my mind, and able to retrieve it. My feet were in the most comfortable shoes ever and I had designed the shoes. What was so great about them, the key to comfort?

Sand. I hand made a portion of the soles with sand.
