I am just wondering how many here have noticed their anima and developed it. What was your first encounter with it like? How is your relationship together? How do you know it is your anima?

The Anima is the mental personification of one's theory of mind specifically as it applies to females, in dreams the Anima often appears in either its light or dark form representing the dreamer's idealistic and/or pessimistic views on women.

Yea that is not how the brain works, the brain generate "images", the rest is bullshit, the image that is generated is depended on your neural network traning , in dreams I think that the brain take a seed image(the current dream image) as input and manipulate it until you see woman(or other), the more your brain recognise the current image is similar or have connotation to woman the more chance for the brain to generate woman image.
When you freely manipulate dream, you kind of hack the brain to recognize other image from the seed image, then it generate the other image.

My mom had a dog named puppy and in my dream last night she was trying to learn how to speak so I tried talking to her. It lasted a little while and she said some thing but then she ran out the glass slide door. (puppy died a year ago)

I meet this girl in my dream one time and I put my head on her shoulder and she put her arms around me.

Any female you meet in your dream is your anima, the anima is not necessarily one thing but it can be if all attributes are combined. It will just appear and look different at different times. All attribute to the anima are inside the person with the anima.

When I see her she appears different each time and feels like a real person.

I don't know a lot about it, but did read that it was used to explain transgender people. His reasoning wasn't that people are transgender, but that transgenders have found their anima/animus and have a strong connection to it. So I guess Jung was actually against the idea of being trans. But I wonder if that was a primary motivation for his anima/animus idea.

I find that word misleading to understanding, woman in dream is not much different than say animal in dream, this is looking at it the wrong way, like an distorted explanation given to a child.

I just remembered something from an old website I read.

In order to reach you Anima you must get past your shadow.

When it happened to me I thought I was seeing a vision from God.

I cannot even describe the splendor and beauty and transcendent light that I saw surrounding her. Her face looked filipino.

the relationship with my anima? uhm. we don't talk too much. but she is just around the corner.

what cognisant said.

the anima can't be reduced to a single image, she is a spectrum of possibilities, just like a real woman would be. artists will try to create some images of her.

the picture i have in my profile is also one i selected based on a dream. the dream character introduced herself as something sounding similar to titania, i googled that and found this roughly matching artwork titled titanias awakening. at the time i was deep into my dreams and despite some lucidity i would often still perceive dream contents as real in either a metaphysical sense or in a remote viewing or telepathic sense. this dream seemed a bit like a telepathic connection to someone real who is looking for me. (haha, as if any woman would do that)

one of my favorite self painted pictures was also intended as being my anima.

the first girl i had a long lasting serious crush on was also more like an archetype to me, something coming out of my own mind - since i had never even talked to the real life version of her.

Mine is a combination of The Thing, Eve from Species, Sarah from Species, Sil from Species, Cortana from Halo, Nico Robin from One Piece and a succubus (or Babylon I'm not sure on this one). I've never seen her in a dream but once or twice. Usually I don't dream.

I have had succubus hallucinations but wouldn't think of this HR Giger bitch as being my anima. gross. i could only see the succubus as a manifestation of evolution, because she literally just rapes a man to steal his sperm/DNA and suck the life out of him (not all of it, no worries). but i must admit, evolution is a part of every woman, so don't fuck with them.

to be clear my succubus hallucination doesn't look like what google images returns. those anime characters with human faces are not scary at all. they look quite argumentative. my succubus looked pretty much like an HR giger alien (species). a succubus is meant to be scary as fuck. a natural monster. mechanical. you can't argue with a force of nature.

reminds me, i had dreamlike intuitions about shadow aspects of my girlfriends. i told one about it and she pinned it on me - supposedly having a negative view of her. she didn't want that part to be acknowledged. its roughly the part of women that means no when they say yes. i don't doubt such intuitions.

I don't really ascribe to anima/animus stuff in terms of the theories some folks have detailed... although I think there's a natural quest for some kind of balance in a person and filling in missing pieces of our own personality, which can intersect with our muddled romantic yearnings and complex attachment to parent figures of either gender.

I would be interested also (as Serac asks) in examples of what this would actually look like IRL. Otherwise it just feels like more mystical-feeling stabs in the dark.

Complex (psychology) Wikipedia

http://mind-development.eu/jung.html

1. The Persona is an identity we hold and which we present to the outside world. We may hold several of such: our career role; our role as mother father, son, etc; our political identity, and so on.

2. The Ego is our center of consciousness, our conscious sense of self. Therefore it excludes (although remains influenced by) all of our make-up that is unconscious. Jung says: "So far as we know, consciousness is always Ego-consciousness. In order to be conscious of myself, I must be able to distinguish myself from others. Relationship can only take place where this distinction exists."

3. The Shadow is an unconscious part of the Ego, and receptacle for that which we have for one reason or another disowned or wish to remain out of sight and those qualities that one would rather not see in oneself, as well as unrealized potentials. The Shadow is intimately connected to the Id and its structures, Thanatos and Eros that contain the animal instincts. It's the part of the personality that's forced out of mental awareness by the Ego's defense mechanisms.

4. The Anima is a node of unconscious beliefs and feelings in a man's psyche relating to the opposite gender, the Animus is the corresponding complex in a woman's psyche. As part of the Ego unconscious, these complexes can rise into consciousness when activated by appropriate circumstances.

5. The Self is simply the totality of the entire psyche. It is the function which contains all the other functions and around which they orbit. It may be difficult for the conscious Ego to accept that there may be more to the psyche than that of which it is currently aware.
