addJust curious to see if there are any particular correlations between type or anything else and (insert)-handedness. Give any information you think is useful :). I'm left-handed and on separate (internet) IQ tests, I got 106 and 143 for my score respectively. I'm also (according to non-internet test) in the bottom 20-30% for verbal intelligence but safely inside the top 30-40% for spatial intelligence (doesn't seem like relevant info :1). I'm male (add this as a reminder).

I don't have any significant medical conditions (except non-infectious weirdness), but I'm allergic to penicillin. I wear glasses.

Random info time finished. Now it's someone else's turn :D.

EDIT: Wow, 100% of people voting are left-handed! (You're the only voter right now... Hi! Long time no see! *Sigh*)

Note: Is anyone seriously going to vote 'can't write' while staying honest?

I voted can't write because I'm not an INTP and didn't want to have to hit "see results" every time.

They have this on INTJforum.com and like 40%+ of them are ambidextrous, those guys scare me.

I'm left-handed, I get between 129 and 142 on internet IQ tests (never taken a real one, no idea where to do so), I haven't taken any kind of real intelligence test but earlier today I took one on www.mypersonality.info and these were the results:

I'm also a male... Can't think of anything else relevant or irrelevant that needs to be added. :P

Well, I replied but apparently the post contained something bad since it needs to be approved before it'll be shown... (I suspect the image from a .info site has something to do with it)

This poll needs more choices. I'm left handed, but I write ambidextrously. I need to vote both, but chose to vote ambidextrous. I'm left dominant, but normally write with my right hand.

Unexceptional right-handed female. I can very slowly write legibly with my left hand if I have to, but not fluidly. I think that's normal.

I'm right handed, I can kind of write with my left hand if I want to... it's not very good though of course...

Just under the poll is the heading "thread tools". If this doesn't give you an option to edit poll then pm me with the changes you want to make and I'll apply them.

Im right handed, I dont feel like doing that test right now. I did an online IQ test once, it said 124, but it was in English so I dont know if its accurate.

I'm left-handed. I'll take the test and report back with my score. I've tested ~120 on I.Q. tests in the past.

I broke my left arm (very seriously) in 1988. Although I'm right handed, I learned quickly how much trouble it would have been had it been my right arm in the cast. So, since then, I trained myself to do many things with my left hand, just in case.

The two big ones: crossword puzzles and brushing my teeth.

Ever tried brushing your teeth with the other hand? Give it a try.

There are many different IQ test scoring scales, the score means nothing if you don't know which scale you're using.

The Weschler is the most used one, i think it's the 15(something) one.

Mine is umm... 129 I think.

I think the standard saying "i am lefthanded" doesn't dscribe it for me. I do write with the left. Things which require more strength or more physical action i do with my right. Knives (like in cutting bread) i use with my left. But of course i can do everything, with less quality, with my respective other hand. It's just the familiarization. What i score on IQ-tests i do not know, since i don't remember myself doing one lately.

Ogion, you seem to be the opposite of me. Which is your dominant eye?
I can switch which eye is dominant as well, if I try, but normally I'm a lefty. I use eating utensils and knives with either hand interchangeably.
My grandmother was left handed, and was forced to write with her right hand in school. Only one of her seven children was left handed, and I am the only southpaw of eighteen grandchildren.

Hm, i am not sure i know the meaning of "dominant eye"?
Eating utensils, well it gets a complicated task to use the fork or a spoon with the right. I'm much slower then and likely to let something drop.
It seems that lefthanded people are rarer. The people around me are mostly righthanded, with some lefthanded. At least when writing is considered (that is easier to see, espcially in university)

Hold a finger out in front of your face, and look at it while closing one eye and then the other. When your finger (or the background, depending on where you focus) appears to jump sideways, you have just closed your dominant eye, which should be your left if you are left handed.

Hmm, when i hold the finger up, focus on the background, then i see 'two' unfocused fingers. So i close my left eye, and the 'right' finger disappears. When i close my right eye however, the 'left' finger disappears. Do i do something wrong? I would have thought of that as normal (well, it has ever been that way for me...).

Ogion

P.S.: I'm looking the topic up now, so perhaps i will correct my posting
Okay, it seems to be my left eye, but the wikipediaarticle implicates, that eye dominance isn't that clear defined?

EDIT: The computer mouse i use with the right, and throwing things i do with the right too. It seems to me, that either i am kind of ambidextrous, or that the difference just isn't that big.

So far the results are interesting. No one has bothered with an average IQ, and the ratio of left-handers to right-handers to both hand writers is greatly different than the norm (roughly 1 left-handers to 10 rights, 1 in 100, 1,000 or 10,000, (I can't remember which) people are ambidextrous). We may need a bigger sample, though. Maybe a hundred or so?

I'm right handed, but I can do a lot of things with my left. On the online tests I've taken for my IQ, I've gotten between 130ish and 150ish.

I'm right handed, but if I have to type with only one hand, I can type faster with my left, and I catch table tennis balls far better with my left :)

The almighty internet once said my IQ was 129. It was one of those long tests with the series of dots and squares.
I took a similar test when applying for a job but they didn't tell me the score.

As for hands, my left is far from clumsy, but I stopped writing with it over a decade ago. I trained it for kicks and was getting good at it.

IQ from 133 to 144 in online tests. 133 when i wasn't trying hard, 144 when i took my time. took one when I was young and had a speech problem, don't have that score anymore. I don't see the IQ test as a good measure of intelligence though.

i eat with either my left or right , switch hands for shaving my face, switch hit for batting, and can write pretty ok with either hand, but tend to use my right, so i just voted ambidextrous and said to hell with it

right handed... I dunno about average IQ cause I only took one test (online), but it said 143. Bad sample size, I know, but it's the best I can do. For what it's worth, it was something like 30 questions and timed... it doesn't seem like all of them are. I would think that I'd do better on one you could take your time on, but I don't know cause I've never seen/looked for/taken one.

At least people are answering. Anyway, I can't remember where I heard this (it may be a mix-up of info or my usual self-confusion), but left-handed people tend to have higher IQ, and also tend to have more mental diseases than right-handers.

Yay, sounds like me, with the tendency toward mental stuffs.

I'm a lefty, they say left-handed people also have an easier time relating to other people in some contexts. I have no idea where my IQ lies, but my SATs had me at 550 in reading and 750 in math, so I do the math :D

Also, about 30% of my friends are leftys, and I think some of the left handers have this feeling that they just want to be unique or different, and they'll sometimes do things unorthodoxly for the sake of being different.

icy, with the rate INTPs generally make friends, that could be just one friend which iss not, I'm afraid, statistically signifigant.

(If I EVER use that term again, feel free to impale me with the nearest object that could possibly used to impale somone)

Poll: Left/right handed

I'm just curious if INTPs have the same ratio of handedness as the rest of the population. Left-handed people tend to over represent in intelligent and creative groups. There's 13% of the adult population who are left-handed.

Let's see if INTPs vary at all.

(If you're curious, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-handed )

Re: Poll: Left/right handed

I've done something like this before (called handedness). It's somewhere down the list.

Results (if you're too lazy to check it out yourself):
Left:8
Right:34
Ambidextrous:2
Can't write:2
Total:46

I was hoping for around 100 people to vote, but ah well.

Merged threads - if you voted in the second poll you'll need to re-vote in the one above as both polls could not be saved.

I voted right-handed. I write/throw/brush my teeth with my right hand. I could write slowly with my left hand, but I definitely am more used to writing with my right. I've eaten with forks and spoons with my left hand if it happened to be more convenient (food on the left side) without thinking too much about it, but I prefer to use my right hand. Also, I can only use chopsticks with my right hand. I use my computer mouse with my right hand.

My dad is left-handed but writes with his right hand because he was forced to when he was in school.

Um... I'm not sure what my IQ is. I've scored 780 on both math and verbal for the SAT. I think I'm better at verbal, but would like to be better at math since I like doing computer science.

Left handed but write very legibly with my right hand. I also switch hands back and forth when draw...especially large scale.
I punch with my left hand almost exclusively.
I am cross dominant ...use my right eye and left hand...makes me a good batter and a good shot.
I don't share my IQ...well enough above average will suffice.
I am allergic to sulfa drugs and compazine.
I can dance.
