Most Epic Video Games

*Changed topic for the fear of lack of clarity of original post. I'll try to do it some other time*

I'd love to know what your favorite video games of all time are? Any games you find to be "epic"?
I'd find it interesting to see correlations between types and type/style of game so all types are welcome.

I personally enjoy games from the SNES console a little too much. I'll play "Illusion of Gaia" or "Soul Blazer" any day. Something about the depth of the plot that got me as a child.
I also enjoy The ever so popular "Legend of Zelda" quite a bit.
Chrono Trigger has always been a classic favorite.

List MBTI type and game. Any game console.

Cheers.

Depends on how 'epic' is defined.

Final Fantasy 7 (Playstation) was pretty awesomely epic, but all the FF's that have followed it have been epically boring.

Modern era; Fallout New Vegas is pretty damned epic, perhaps excessively so.

But that's just based on what I've played. There are surely games far more 'epic' than New Vegas, but I only have time for so much epicness in my life. There's a point at which 'epic' crosses the line into 'redundant'.

By epic I meant, "epic to you". Games you enjoy for whatever the reason may be.

I agree, Final Fantasy 7 was an awesome game.

What the heck? Wasn't this a "What is the most epic video game..." thread half an hour ago?

Lame. I set it back to the original one for some time, but then changed it last minute to make it a thread about video games. I think it's a glitch as I did have two pages open, one with the original thread, and the one with the changes. I'll try resetting it now.

LOL. I don't think I can edit it. I initially incorporated the poll with my original thread just for shits. It wasn't meant to be thorough or anything. Now that the subject is video games it'd make sense to include the others but it is done.

And about the topic... I had to change the topic to something else. I thought video games - can't go wrong with that, that easily. All types like video games.

Why do you think SJ types would like to answer it, if you don't mind answering. I'd like to understand your observation.

well SJ means obtaining nostalgia and safety from what's already established... just a pun, nothing serious about the observation.

Puns are awesome. Alright man. I'm on drugs, didn't really catch that.
I'd also like to hear of a few great games that I can play once I'm better. The threads' subject was partially selfish. I needs me some awesome game recommendations.

Just dropping this here: http://www.manapool.co.uk/planescape-torment-review/

I can also attest to the value of FF6; one of my favorite, if not my most favored of the Final Fantasy series. Something about morally grey villains really excites me. Which reminds me, the Mass Effect series was quite good if you can get past the less-than-admirable ending you're given in the final iteration. I'd be at a loss if I were forced to choose between Kefka and the Illusive Man you see in ME2.

In retrospect, I could've just referred you to this thread: http://intpforum.com/showthread.php?t=3925

The kind of drugs that are medically prescribed.:)

Those games are freaking awesome, I agree, but I have played them all.
I'd like to see some hidden "gems" arise, or maybe something I've forgotten about.

Never played "Torment" but it sounds familiar. Final Fantasy 6, that's a great game as well. I enjoy most of the Final Fantasy games.... time to dust some of them of as soon as I am able. I've never really been able to play the "Mass Effect Series" since I lack something to play it on.
Oh, thanks for the thread, I will take a look.

PC gaming > console gaming. End of story.

More 'epic'...

Diablo 2. I liked the game, but it got repetitive. 50 levels of randomly generated dungeons...no thanks. I never finished it.

Halo 1/Halo Custom Edition. I wouldn't call the game itself epic, but my dedication to it certainly was. I've played through the vanilla single player campaign countless times (maybe over 100), and played dozens of mods for Halo CE. I was also heavily into Halo multiplayer race from 2004-07. I'm sure I logged thousands of hours on Halo race servers.

Strangely, I never got into the sequels. I had Halo 2 for awhile, but gave it away as I just wasn't into it. My kids love Halo Reach and Halo 3, but I don't do X-box.

The Stalker series. Love all of them, vanilla and especially modded. 3rd party mods for these games are awesome, and I've played all I could find. People Soup for Shadow of Chernobyl epitomizes epic, as does Sigerous Mod for Call of Pripyat.

The aforementioned Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I'm on my 3rd playthrough of New Vegas, and I just keep finding new shit.

Have had a recent fling with Borderlands and Borderlands 2. Really enjoyed both of these, but lost patience with the fucking shitty save system. Spending an hour traversing the majority of an 'epic' map only to have to quit and go to work, then coming back to play later and finding I've respawned at the beginning of the map and have to do it all over again is enough to turn even the most epic game into a piece of shit for me. My kids love 'em though, but they're into repetitiveness because they're...kids.

All games mentiond are PC. As said, I don't do consoles. Mods, mods, mods.

Console exceptions, all for PS 1 and N64, which were the last consoles I owned (not counting my kids, who have X 360 and PS 2/3. I've played their consoles on a lark, just to check out new games, but never seriously.)

PS1:
X-COM UFO Defense (still play this on my PSX emulator).
Descent series
FF7
Final Fantasy Tactics

N64:
Mario 64
Goldeneye 007

INTP/ISTP hybrid.

Age of Mythology is a favourite and was loosely based around an actual "epic".

Other favourites:

-Limbo
-Advance Wars(most of them)
-Machinarium
-Lone Survivor is great but I've only played a little bit of it(I don't really like horror games).
-SSBM is a multiplayer favourite
-Kingdom Rush and the sequel to it
-Super Hexagon is just pure game(it can make you feel like you are on drugs, or something)
-Altitude is super addicting online multiplayer
-Wind Waker (If I had to pick only one favourite, it would be this)
-Probability 0

Currently I'm playing; Little & Big, Grandpa's Leftovers, and It's awesome so far.

If you are interested in type + games.

I don't prefer any one console. I play whatever is good, on whatever thing I have available. I wish all games would be as cross platform as possible.

Speaking of which I really would like to play Journey, but don't have access to a PS3. It's silly.

I can't get away from Warcraft 2 no matter what I try. Just constantly building town halls.

Also Carmageddon 1 is sweet.

I wish all games worked all cross platforms as well.

Thanks you guys. I will be buying a few of these games to play now that I have better use of my wrist. Still recovering so keeping typing to a minimum.

I am looking forward to this.

Thanks for the thread Turniphead. That is the sort of thing I was looking for.

I really want some games I can get into. I especially enjoy RPG games, though all other games are fine as well.
