This may be a trite topic but I was wondering if you guys knew any games I could play with my girlfriend. We have N64 PS2 and Xbox360.
There are some articles on the internet but they are pretty much all sexist and assume girls don't like playing video games and that we should entice them into the video game world by playing "cute" games.
I think that killing zombies together in a dark room is a pretty damn good bonding experience and my girlfriend always has a better kill ratio than me (she's quite competitive.)

So anyways what I'm asking is not "what games would a girl like?" but rather "what games have good co-op modes that would good bonding games?"

I know she already likes Kingdom Hearts series, Zelda (the N64 ones) , left for dead series, and in the shadow of the colossus; to give you a springboard.

Any games you've played with your gf/bf you've both liked?

There are fighting games like Tekken or Soulcalibur, standard zombie fare like l4d or dead rising; DDR is great for competitive folk even if it makes you feel silly in the beginning. I had a lot of fun playing old school mario tennis/mario kart with people at school; you have to love public education. You really have any number of 1-st person shooters to choose from, but Borderlands is probably the best. Platformers can co-op effectively as well and if you don't mind taking turns, games with good dialog and an interesting premise like Portal or Psychonauts can be quite fun as well.

Just don't play ahead once you pick a game. I know it's nice to show off, but it's very annoying (especially for competitive people) to pick up new game they've never played along with someone who's spent 40+ hours on it.

Also, have you tried just asking her what type of game she'd like to play with you? :p

Thanks for all of the suggestions! No I'm going to get her a couple games for her birthday so I couldn't really just ask her, but I think I have a grasp of what types of games she likes already.

I was looking into psychonauts I think I'll order that one, probably will pick up mario kart too. Forgot about that one. I spent hours as a kid going the wrong direction on the railroad as a kid in the level with the railroad tracks.

There was a short cut and I had to look it up

"On the first or second lap if you get a star you can do this. When you get to the 2nd Railroad tracks turn and go to the tunnel. Just before you enter the tunnel use your star, if you do this right you'll finish the lap and have a shorter 2nd or 3rd lap."

Gears of War! Awesome co-op experience.
Halo has co-op.
Left 4 Dead for killing zombies.
Honestly if she is a better gamer than you, you can play anything.
I think Portal 2 has a co-op mode.

N-64: Mario Cart 64 and 007 Golden eye for Nintendo 64 might just be the most fun I've ever had Co-oping (aside from the original "marathon" through an apple talk network, but I doubt you have the right stuff to support that.)

PS2- Tekken Tag, and any of the Twisted Metal games (think they are mostly ps1 games but will run on the ps2 or ps3 for that matter as well) Great Co-ops.

X-box 360- Honestly I've had the most co-op fun with this using the kinict shovel-ware than any of the more serious games for it.

haha geez guys just because you like a game doesn't mean its a good recommendation for dudes to play with their gfs.

First of all if your girl actually knows how to play games thats a plus.

I do not recommend Cookie and Cream haha.

I like playing castle crashers on the xbox live arcade with my significant other. Also, Dokapon Kingdom on the Wii is a fun game, its a bit competitive.

Other games that are always fun are Mario Parties, Mario Kart. Diddy Kong Racing. I love Left 4 Dead and New Super Mario Bros for the Wii, the Kirby returns to dream land is fun.

I had a roommate who didn't play games but I got her to be my Star Catcher in Mario Galaxy and she had a fun time haha because it was simple.

But I also like playing Halo, and Call of Duty and Gears of War with bf's.

The indie game 'Catherine' (by the makers of Persona). You can play the multiplayer puzzle mode together, and it's easy to hand over the controller in the main story mode between levels, even though it's only one player.

I'm not sure if either of you would be immediately turned off by the animation. Usually INTP's aren't so shallow about their gaming preferences, and will actually play a game for it's storyline and gameplay. But if for whatever reason one of you hates anime-type graphics, the game may not be for you.

The story is just plain wacky, but the cut scenes and puzzles keep you hooked. Also it's worth mentioning that it got really good reviews, and the overall difficulty of the game makes it excellent brainfood for INTP's.

Alice Madness Returns is another awesome game that might appeal both you and your girlfriend. The visuals in this game are amazing.

I know you requested multiplayer games, but most of the good ones have already been mentioned ;) Take my recommendations or leave 'em!

As a female competitive gamer, I think that zombies on Black Ops would be fun to play together (not regular live multiplayer--for most people it would require too much concentration to really bond well).
Super Smash Bros. on the N64 and Left for Dead would also be good choices.
Or you could buy her an MMORPG like GW2 (GW2 if her birthday isn't that soon) because those are always enjoyable to play together even if you're not physically close.
I also have to recommend Assassin's Creed even though it's not multiplayer, just because of how great the game is.
