What developments would you like to see in science & technology?

For myself:
Wide-scale implementation and availability of internet over fiber optics, with less(or no) obstruction by telecom monopolies.

Digital taste simulation, and being able to completely replace the taste of one food with another.

Immersive virtual reality for media entertainment and personal environments.

Bionic vision, for those born blind too.

Personal / portable flight travel would be pretty cool.

Both speculation and current events are open for discussion.

Space travel and whatnot doesn't interest me much, I suspect the present laws of physics are mostly complete, and so exploring beyond our solar system is not going to happen.

The one thing I'm looking and working for is to understand the computational nature of the brain/mind, and the technology to read out the neural net from a human.

That reminds me of an experiment to record brain activity & recreate the imagery.

Any purposes? As far as the brain/mind goes, I'm most interested in data backup and mental communication.

Mental communication sounds very promising to our species as a whole. I want to have internet access from my mind, or at least a contact lens I can control without my hands. (Eye movement?) Being able to access the sum of human knowledge anytime and anywhere would be damn useful. It would also make these archaic ideas academia has about memorization obsolete.

Internal data storage. By internal, I mean inside myself. I want everything on my desktop pc with me at all times. Not stored in my mind, but stored in a peripheral device implanted internally which I could access through a contact lens or whatever.

Sounds a little strange, but I think it would be really useful.

If we could expand our life expectancy like another 200 hundred years or more we could then try space fairing. I would like to see androids becoming more advanced then maybe we could transfer our minds to them.

What could a scientist achieve if he had a milliniam to work on it. And if we were to you'd androids as the perferd method of life extension there would be no drain on food resources. Imagine that being able to slow or even halt the hunger problem.

Bionic eyes, by which I mean capable of zooming in and out and taking pictures / video, as well as taking notes and pulling them back up on a whim. And space travel / colonization. I refuse to die before I see a human colony on Mars.

Telecommunication between humans. Not for mass production, but just to see if its feasibly possible. Main goal as I advance through electrical engineering.

Efficient bureaucratic systems.

Forums that will state all the logical fallacies of people's posted arguments.

I'd like to see some medical advancements.

Regenerative medicine. I'd like to see people get organ transplants from their own tissue (organ transplants today are great, immuno-suppressant drugs that have to be taken for the rest of the patient's life aren't so great). I'd like to see nerve regrowth work well. If there were a way to inject cells into someone's brain or heart or whatever and replace defective tissue with new tissue, and restore the full functioning of that organ (what this might mean in the case of the brain is interesting), that would be great.

Disease treatment. I'd like to see a solution to the problem of cancer. Whether it's an organic (or inorganic) nanotech solution or any other solution, it would be great if cancer were always a treatable and curable problem.

I can't decide whether I want to see a technological replacement for sleep. On the one hand, I enjoy sleeping. On the other hand, if I could get all the benefits (psychological as well as physical) of 8 hours of sleep from a 30 minute technological recharge of some kind, I might prefer to have 23-hour days to do stuff.

That's an oxymoron if I've ever seen one.
The purpose of bureaucracy, is to administrate systems better than just leaving them to chaos, to make them more efficient. If an efficient bureaucratic system was truly an oxymoron, then there would be no point in organising your thoughts, for the fact that you are organising them, would make that too, a bureaucratic system.

But your saying that by not administrating bureaucratic systems, it would result to chaos.
