This is awesome, the percussion meter appears to be 4/4 with forced jumps here and there (track edits and cuts), this made me think of another way of introducing non-standard behaviour. I am now looking for artificially edited/discontinuous musics.

I'd say the purpose of this thread was to find enjoyable works in uncommon formats and 4/4 is as standard as standard can go . I like the bass so you are absolved .

Also it would be hypocritical of me to try to argue about finding beauty in oddity if I couldn't always tell what time signature is being played and I can't, I can only vouch for some I could check myself or found reliable sources for.

I know this CD, but forgot it existed. It's a mix of Gypsy, Polish Highland and Balkan/Romanian folk music, very energetic and well done.

This is actually the piece that made me appreciate Kayah as a singer and appreciate the whole potential folk infractions/collaborations and genius of borrowing ideas and of Bregovic himself in this.

It seems much of the central european folk music relies on syncopation.

Called "The world's ugliest music", undeserved title.

Pattern free and yet they only scramble the pairs. It's more of an analysis of typical music than attempted pattern free piece. They raise valid points though, so kudos for mathematics.

This is very strong, as expected . So what happens here is that there's a bit of recursion going on. Starts off with a normal 4/4, then adds 2/4 with every repetition. Gives it a syncopated effect and a bit of a waltzy formula.

Thank you for posting these gems. It's certainly something I've had very little contact with and wouldn't have found it on my own. I think it's a culture I should spend more time exploring.

Well, whatever time signature this is, it certainly makes it hard to count to 4.

Sounds like it's in 9/4. 8/8 + 10/8 notes. Or you could think of it as one quarter note after every two full note measures.
