For items that I am unable to understand how they work, and that I do not want to take apart. The very descriptive .pdf patent images are great for satisfying my curiosity. Or maybe some inspiration for creating/improving something.
There are plenty of other ways to find patents, however, these are definitely my favorites. Feel free to add good alternatives. Enjoy.
