I wonder if anyone's played the FF series on this forum :o

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kznek1uNVsg

The English voiceover makes me cringe a bit, but oh well, that's the price of voiceovers I guess.

The release date hasn't been announced yet (the trailer was revealed at E3 2015, [Electronic Entertainment Expo] in LA), but it seems it's going to take a couple of years for them to finish it. It's going to be on the PS4.

FF VII is awesome.
the personalty of it,the Materia system and other things I can't even recognize\didnt come to my mind.
I do worry that they would screw the personalty/feel,how will they retain the humor in realistic 3d?.
I hope that they will expand the Materia system.

Anyway awesome might be a good replay when it will come out.

Yeah the humor part is probably going to be awkward because it's so realistic, I agree.

Personally, I probably won't get the console so I could play just this game, but I'd sure like to play it a bit just once.. maybe it'll come on the PC? But yeah, this is probably just wishful thinking :3

On the Materia system though, personally, I hope they'll retain it. I sort of want it to be JUST like the original, pure and simple.

On the game itself and the remake, I think it'll catch on with the younger generation who are into gaming, because of the whole [man vs. society] - [man vs man] aspect of the game.

i.e.
AVALANCHE vs Shinra (environmental 'terrorist' group vs corrupt multinational-government) and then
Cloud vs Sepiroth (conflict of self, identity, purpose)

If they could keep the realistic tone of it down I think it could cater to a larger audience imo, not just the reminiscing older-generation- those who actually played the game when it first came out.

But then again I'm not sure what the current trend is in the gaming industry, so eh..

Aerith dies

I'm not that much of a FF7 fan (I liked FF I to VI) but this looks interesting.

I think I'll like it, if the voice-overs don't ruin it for me. What I liked about the old one was that I could read what they said and fill in the character's emotional states with my imagination. I built them up in my head. Having voice-overs might ruin how I see or understand each character.

I am not sure where I heard this and whether it was about Final fantasy games, but "the FF intros/trailers say nothing about the game or it's story in as many words as possible".

My familiarity with the series comes from some videos and that's pretty much it. I recognized the Buster sword and the guy carrying it is probably Clou[d/t]. I realize it's probably being marketed to the fans of the series, but from this trailer I can only assume that something bad happened (cataclysmic event?) and it's probably not a racing game.

Don't have access to any game consoles, so I am not gonna play it.

This is cg trailer of non even alpha state game.
Most of it is just speaking in hints to ff7 fans
,that have no connection to the will be game.
It speak of the events in the end of ff7 its seems,or about the taking of mako(planet and life energy).
They might want to continue the remake after ff7 ending.

I feel it's actually a remake, not a sequel in the FF7 universe after the events of FF7. The narrative was just probably a 'meta' so it can resonate with the older generation who have played the game. I kind of see how it can be a sequel, but if it was, why title it ' Remake '? But then again it is true that it's in its early stages, so the storyline could be just a continuation. But I really hope it's a pure remake :3

The cg I think is probably going to be featured in the game itself imo. The part where Cloud and Barrett walks in that alley is probably before they go terrorizing the train in the beginning or something.

I mean, they will want to add story and a things to do after ff7 story end, they might do ff7 story remake+extra story after ff7 timeline.
They will show new perspectives in the story.

Judging from their revival of FF's 1 to 6, I'll go with the theory that it's the same storyline but with extra features and dungeons.

Tetsyua Nomura is the director. This means everything will get amped up 100x. What was cool in the original will be portayed as mind blowingly epic in the sequel. All the little emotions and nuances which made original great will be blown away by the sound of JRPGs own Michael Bay as he masturbates.

yeah, saw this on twitch when sony dropped the video. I was shocked. For the longest time it was thought that it wouldn't be done because it would have to be perfect. But it seems the petition may have played a part in getting this remake off the ground and someone decided they wanted the job.

I might just buy a PS4 for this and FFXV. FFX was my favorite though.

I don't see the point really, besides profit (oh wait..). You can't perfectly remake the original without losing something of what made it what it is.

From what I can tell, their last few Final Fantasy games have not been very good (or certainly not as good as the games up to FFX) and because they're lacking in creative direction this is an easy cash-cow that can simultaneously win-back a lot of reputation with old fans if done well (parallel scenario to that recent Star Wars film I guess.)

In short.

AVALANCHE vs Shinra (environmental 'terrorist' group vs corrupt multinational-government)

Join Avalanche, just play the game on PS1. Or buy the remake and complain about how much it differs from the original.

I disagree. Resident Evil HD was pretty good. The graphics were updated, as well as the voice-acting and it added some more gameplay elements as well. Not to mention Wesker and Jill looked HD sexier. :)

There not doing "HD", which is just little modification of some visuals and/or audio without much change to the actual gameplay and content, they are actually remaking the game from blank, changing everything, they are not strictly based on FF7.The change they are doing is far cry more significant, the feel of the game will be totally different.

If they will do it half right, there will be no more happy person than I, but sadly based on experience, these kind of thing tend to mess up, speaking of bad anime and movies "remakes"(FF7 remake is more akin to Dragon ball GT or Super than say dragon ball Ki) , people don't understand the original universe and characters at all, it is like the people the made them did not actually watched them.

Ohh...I see. :(

Maybe they will wise up and just make a different storyline based on the same FF7 universe?, like how different director's make different Batman movies. (No, I guess not...)

Yeah, but those games all assume FF7 happened (though advent children is a movie I think?). I think it would be cool if they re-imagined the world of FF7 without the original story and made a different one.

It would be like the difference between tim burton's batman and christopher nolan's batman; they have nothing in common in terms of story, but they are both Batman.

But alas I don't think squaresoft has the creative brilliance or balls to attempt it successfully. Though really there is little too lose. Even if the game isn't awesome, people will buy it because it's a different FF7 game.
