https://app.asana.com/

^Asana is a project management app made by one of the co-founders of Facebook.

(just as a reference, another competing app is Basecamp, by the company formerly 37Singals, which I also respect a lot)

Yet ASANA has been my lifesaver-- I am a hardcore INTP who can't remember what to do next-- yet I can solve the most complicated problems on Earth, very much like Albert Einstein-- though I am nowhere near solving anything like world hunger or terrorism.

But I have been able to:

1) make any business process into a repeatable Asana task that can then be assigned to a minimum wage person;

2) break complicated tasks into smaller pieces that then can be completed by minimum wage staff

3) organize my entire life and know what to do next and what's left to do

I gain such a sense of relief knowing that I Have written everything down that I need to do;

then I use Asana to reorganize and prioritize what needs to be done.

I can also "assign" these tasks to other people or contractors I work with, and then set due dates for certain tasks...

Also best thing about Asana is that it's FREE.

And for businesses, you can pay for extra features; but unless you're running a serious business you'll never need to pay for this app.

So I just wanted to share this tip with my fellow INTP's, because it's made my life not just manageable over the last few years, but also enjoyable and now I feel really powerful with this app behind me!

It's like Asana is my 2nd brain.

Asana is sort of like my backup-- and then I can use my real brain for RAM.

So Asana has freed up my brainpower so I can use my existing 12GB of ram to solve problems rather than using the RAM to remember all the tasks that only need to be 'remembered' but not solved.

It's because INTPs are always solving some complicated problem-- and when you introduce new information "like a new task" it completely resets this process and causes stress.

So relieve some stress, start using Asana.

Asana has changed my life. Earlier, I was a disorganized, scatter brain loser. With the new Asana, I have streamlined my life. I am now managing my tasks like a pro.

With Asana, you can climb the level of work efficiency, starting with Scatter Brain, proceeding to Scullion, eventually reaching levels like Caffeinated Dupe and Worker Drone.

Manage your life as an over-worked corporate slave with Asana and become as efficient as me.

Do any of the resident INTP's not instantly see the lack of content and jingoism, solely for the purpose of trying to convince us of the value of this product?

if anything I am promoting Asana, sure. But I don't work for them nor have any interest if you use their FREE app or not.

Purely, it [Asana] is an application that has saved my life, in a sense, and I thought other INTPs who did not know about it, might benefit from it.

There is more value to an INTP than any other type, since we [INTP] have problems with organizing lists and stuff.

So I don't know if there is a more appropriate topic for this entire forum, Architect.

But continue your witch hunt, it is amusing.

Are you advertising the movie?

Damn! Caught.

Meanwhile it didn't take long for FATBOY to get banned, no surprise there, but I'll respond to the charred husk of his avatar.

That was all that I was pointing out.

Purely, it [Asana] is an application that has saved my life, in a sense, and I thought other INTPs who did not know about it, might benefit from it.

I actually thought this was the case, but it's abundantly clear FB is unlikely to be an INTP, as everything about INTP's is anti-marketing and jingoism. Doesn't matter whether one promotes for personal benefit or not, its an abrasive approach on a forum like this.

There is more value to an INTP than any other type, since we [INTP] have problems with organizing lists and stuff.

More promoting (the most important topic on the forum, seriously?)

But continue your witch hunt, it is amusing.

Just surprised one could be so ignorant of themselves and the INTP type.

I love lists and organizing, I just rarely keep them or use them.

I love lists and organizing, I just rarely keep them or use them.

I found the GTD system fairly useful, 'OmniFocus' which I like is a Apple (ios and desktop) app which does it. The idea is the following; have lists of tasks that have to do with a project. That's the first axis. Secondly, assign a "context" to each task, like "phone", "airport", "office", "computer", etc. Then, when you find yourself at the airport all the tasks that are meant for that 'context', across all your projects, become available, thus optimizing your time.

Nice idea but in the modern world nobody (especially in a creative field) can figure out what the contexts are anymore. Now we're always connected, all the time and have all our resources (phone, computer) available to us. So it just ends up being a big pile of lists I don't use, so yeah.

So I got this thing called Asana like OP said.

Not sure if this is useful for getting lists done but at least I achieved Enlightenment and fitness.

I've got the same issue but I find a disconnect with technology. I love technology but when it comes to recording my thoughts or ideas I need a pen and paper. Mainly because I've constructed my own system to organize things. Also because a tend to have to draw very rudimentary pictures to explain to others and to achieve the engineer style print I am accustomed to from being a metal fabricator.
I've started buying the hard cover black books and within a year I've ended up with 6 of them full of thoughts and ideas.

One thing I've noticed though is that it doesn't do much to help me get things into reality but it does help me recall things. Most if my ideas I have to revisit and combine them with other before they get where I want them.

The "correct" way of bringing up this topic would have been to open a discussion on electronic planners in general and then maybe mention the product you use as an example(preferably comparing the pros and cons of several options).

Architect I did notice it in so much that beyond the first sentence everything in his post got filtered as "useless filler" so I ended up skipping it all.

Personally I don't find the need to keep a physical(or electronic) planner as I can easily plan my time out mentally in a efficient fashion if I have any desire to, I usually don't nowadays. It takes moments to make a mental plan based on priorities and it can often be adjusted as needed.

At most one is useful for cross referencing/accessing when your time will be imposed upon by outside factors so you can plan around it(so a basic schedule).
