Well, I figured I would probably come back to this thread eventually, and so that time has at last arrived.

To diverge a bit: For the past 10 months or so I did not masturbate once (up until a few days ago). There was no real reason for this; back near the end of december last year I noticed that I hadn't done it for about two weeks, so I just decided to run with it and see how long I could go without. During this time I became aware that my uh, potential for arousal (for lack of a better term at the moment) would spike drastically every few weeks or so. Perhaps because of my "time off" or just general growth, I think I am in a good position to re-examine this whole thing.

First of all, I do not think that what I am experiencing is could even be called an "orgasm." I still get them in the regularly understood sense, but the "sustainment" is a different process altogether, I believe.

Some time after I orgasm, whether a few seconds or milliseconds, a strange sensation crawls up my spine until it reaches my head and I instantly convulse, drawing my shoulders up and arching my head back. I start gasping for air, (or perhaps trying to hold my breath; this part is always fuzzy) since I sense that the manipulation of airflow is somehow giving me pleasure (though I'm still not sure if the manipulation wants it out or in; perhaps either, as long as the flow stops, I think), and tightening my muscles as hard as I can is also pleasurable. I also get the urge to squirm by body, which in turn makes it more enjoyable, further encouraging me to writhe.

It's not exactly the same feeling as an orgasm, and is definitely distinct from it, as I said before, but it is still immensely enjoyable- almost like a sort of euphoria or ecstasy and it always seems to last at least a minute, and usually longer.

It occurred to me that perhaps my position may have to do with it, as the first time I did it when I restarted a few days ago I was in a sitting position, and I have always been doing it lying down since then, and plus that's how I had been doing it before, last year. As far as i'm concerned, the process of ejaculation - and consequently orgasms- is related to the autonomic nervous system. That part of the nervous system not only controls the sexual arousal, but also other factors as heart beat rate, respiratory frequency, pulse, and gastric motility.

The erection is inducted by parasympathetic means on vascular receptors on the genital's area. The feeling from that is that you feel relaxed within the start of the stimulation of your genital. As arousal increases, the heart beat rate increases to mantain the erection, as sympathetic nervous system starts taking part on the process.
