Have you guys ever adopted personalities or faulty logic to argue a point you disagree with? Let me explain.
Sometimes, for fun, I like to imitate the faulty logic I hear people create and construct my own interpretation of that logic by supporting a claim I don't believe in with bad logic. I usually make myself look like an idiot in doing so, sometimes more obviously so than other times. Its very amusing to me, but trying to explain why it is to people afterwards often is difficult because I am a very convincing act. Do you guys ever have this?

Yes, I call it Soft Trolling.
Instead of trying to explain what I was doing, I just destroy them in a legit debate later on. Saves me lots of trouble.

I did it just today and people now think I'm a racist. Was using hypocritical racist logic. Nobody ever realizes I am making a joke by being the act and so then I feel bad for people thinking I am actually that way, because its dishonest and it will probably create a misinformed evaluation of me because of it. I suppose then being honest on other occasions can counterbalance but still, it must be confusing for others. Still fun for me though.

some people do not understand self-effacement as humor and a means to communicate. as a youngster I found that highlighting the idiocy of others often got me beat up by the targeted idiots, so I began to pretend to be an idiot myself when surrounded by idiots.

I became a clown popular with idiots. Few ever suspected, that behind my clown's mask, I was actually sneering, at my audience. It is so weird, I can insult myself imitating an idiot, and the very idiot i am imitating will find it extremely humorous, not seeing that the insult was directed at him or her. (At least if i do it correctly, it is a rather dangerous game to play, for if I am not subtle enough, the target catches on...:beatyou:)

Yes. The idea is to display something false or ridiculous to you as if true (because it appears true to others) and carry it on. If the carrying on finally results in something ridiculous or false to others, the original premise is wrong.

In logic this is called, "reduction to absurdity." Another term is called, "devil's advocate" where you suppose some evil thing is true and see where it goes. This got me into trouble on another bulletin board system where I got accused of being bad. Then a friend advised me to be upfront saying I was playing devil's advocate. That helped but sometimes I forget.

YES. I was formulating in a mind a post with this content as I scrolled down and read your reply. :D

It's always fun taking irrational suppositions and assumptions - often ones of which those holding them are not cognizant - and driving it to its logical end... just to show "you're an idiot, if for no other reason than because you have no clue what you're actually thinking." At least, that's usually why I do it. :D

I was once on a bulletin board where I made a bunch of seemingly offensive statements about pedophile priests. (The J's there would go on and on about how bad they were.) So I made a list of good traits. They condemned me thinking I was serious. Wasn't a good board to be on. Later I explained but a lot good that did.

The thing is, usually I portray that faulty logic and do it with such intensity that the people I argue with also adopt that logic, I sort of make them fight amongst themselves... It's infectious really, first I make one person believe, you can actually see his eyes start to glow and his voice get tense as he suddenly "understands" the truth within my words; afterward the person closest to him (a friend or good acquaintance) joins our side and by the ned of it I step back and marvel at the simple minds that wind up arguing until I leave from boredom or they find a different topic.

I tried this a few times and they took me seriously. Now they are under the impression that I agree with the idea of another Holocaust because it promoted active test subjects for medical and psychological research.

Have you ever tried doing it in a particular way that would sort of leave you "home and dry"? I mean sometimes I talk in such labyrinths that people get confused as to which position it is I'm taking? Then I just smile... Because I know inside that I really don't care about neither, I just love to make my point in all matters and see what people have to add.

I don't know. While it is easy to do that with people, they tend to view you as an idiot despite the obvious fact you are just screwing with them. I don't know, but I prefer to not to have an opposing viewpoint of me, especially on something I am proud of.

I don't think the label "bad" or "good" is objectively suitable to logic. Logic or Logical is more of a spectrum than a fixed condition, especially in times of finding realistic solutions. But I guess in this scenario it works.

I find it just confuses them to the point where they think you have such a deep understanding of the subject they just give up, because they can't even understand what you're getting at. If executed properly.

Devil's advocate here.

Has anyone noticed what SF's do to win arguments with NT's?

I don't know how to describe it, so here we go.. I see this cue of an almost fake emotional level. Then they try and see your reaction but they can't read you. They use totally illogical reasoning. It's almost like a territorial pissing contest if it's between males.

To win this kind of argument I usually just stare them down until they stop acting like children. No need to argue, there is nothing to argue about.

Well people used to do this to me at my old job, but my excuse is that I was young & inexperienced but I swear deep down inside I could tell something wasn't quite right with the situation.

Is this an example? I used to have braces, and once on lunchbreak these two older guys came in and one said to the other, "Have you heard of that guy in Germany that got all his teeth replaced with metal ones?" They kept adding to it and playing it off and whatnot

It got old and became obvious (and very not clever) the more they did it (over the years). There's a time and place and audience for it.

Wow, I do this on a daily basis... It's hilarious no-one can ever notice or figure out what I'm doing unless I tell them; where they either believe me or don't. Hahah, I'm just trying to make general 'shit-chat' more amusing for me! ... People take life way too seriously, and for the wrong reasons too. Not saying you shouldn't take life seriously, but society (or life today) just seems like a big joke to me most of the time, but you play along anyway. Perhaps because you have too... I don't know. All I require is a environment or a world that makes sense and isn't filled with idiocy and blindness so I can actually take things seriously.

I don't know if I actually mean some of this or not... Thoughts are quite mixed up here and always changing.. Nah I probably do. ;)

EDIT: It's probably because of general psychological apathy and neutralness for many things which other people feel are important, and clumsiness is just some sort reflection of our general 'don't give a shit' attitude to the physical world.
Or maybe that's just me...

Maybe be you are not funny. Just a thought. If you were joking, people would catch on and not take anything you disclose in regards to your devil advocacy.
