Enigma 488: Exact date unknown. I know there's an enigma called 488 specifically. But I don't know where it comes from, and search results yield nothing. Its inked its way into the wires of my mind recently. And I didn't find it anywhere either, so its not my subconscious making up the number, or is it? I don't know. Years ago, I'd posted here about noticing number patterns. I dismissed it eventually. Why is this resurfacing now? It's only that one phrase and I keep linking it to a painting that looks just like me. I don't know the author of it, nor did I have anything to do with it. I just can't shake it. What is Enigma 488?

I don't know but here is a puzzle I solved in 2016 called Enigma, designed in 1975.

I solved many mechanical puzzles in high school the teacher gave me.

That's pretty neat. Do you solve Rubik's too? I enjoy chess and mass memorization. I actually try and use a physical thesaurus when I need to find specific phrases, I think it keeps the mind sharp. I'm only 24 but much of the internet is too much sometimes.

Actually, I think the IQ test I took last time says my working memory is only 80 or so. That is about 4 items at once. So no because I could not figure out the algorithm for it. What I am best at is on the tests called inductive and quantitative reasoning. I can't memorize much unless I use it. I practice language most of all and my information subtest is off the scale. Spatial is best though when it comes to problems even though I cannot draw with a weak visual field. Thus my doing maths is a weird combination. Hopefully, you can appreciate what it means to have an asymmetrical profile of sorts. that is where the most creativity comes from when compensating for weaknesses.

What makes your profile the way it is as such?
When I was 24, I came up with my version of novelty theory working as a janitor.
I had a metaphorical vision of what it would be like in 2027.

I think I got rid of most of my depression and paranoia.

Only now I am seeking to find work at odd jobs.

I'm quite lacking in quantitative. I believe I'm highest in abstract reasoning followed by existential intelligence. Its easy for me to attach emotional concepts with certain art structures resulting in complex and often unusual ideas. Writing flows like some outer force is speaking through my bones. I've gotten lost in my mind many times, Dangerously so. In most instances I am not believed or doubted because of my tendency to link bizarre concepts into horror unintentionally, thus "you're just imagining it-" or "it's all in your head." I think I genuinely scare people who are not as interested in those types of things. But I'm also able to unite seemingly coincidental patterns and I'm very quick to observe if something seems a little off. Memorization is not actually easy for me anymore. I lose interest and have to find ways of making it curious again. Assembling and disassembling geometric shapes in my mind though is beyond me.

I am familiar with existential fears.
Things went back to normal for me.
It was not as bad as I thought.
lWtzCns.jpg

by abstract do you mean pattern matching?

geometry is my best ability.
this keeps me sain because I no longer look at things in black and white but in terms of densities. you cannot have certain things just because it is like 2D girls vs 3D girls. the transition between them makes it impossible for certain illusions to be real.

Abstract reasoning ties with fluid intelligence. It takes into account new or innovative ideas without having to have known anything prior to lead up to that thought. Lateral and flexible thinking. To sum it up "Thinking outside the box." Here are some examples of those things in art, for whom I'm not the author of, but using for education. Some lean towards surrealism.

I am not too entirely sure but there may be different kinds of fluid intelligence.

The attention mechanisms are entirely important to what that is because we can see more or less inside and outside ourselves and direct it to an outcome.

I can't draw and do not want to learn how.
You seem like a very visual person?

I know there's an enigma called 488 specifically. But I don't know where it comes from,
Some people argue there is this aether thing like intellect, floating in all cosmos that we can tap into. Its a concept both in religions and psychology.
Yogis knew about it, the Christians talked about, Jung called in synchronicity etc.
The Romans called in genius, a literal spirit a gene that would whisper into your ear etc.
Some argue that the only way people can become better is to believe in something greater than themselves. In principal I agree with this, but there is this weird thing that no matter how I try to understand it eludes me.

Sometimes in life things just fall into place in ways you cannot understand.

My first thought was to check what the Angel number 488 means. I guess you will assign whatever meaning makes the most sense to you in this moment though.

As thinkers sometimes we spend so much time attempting to rationalize a subject, when in otherworldly or spiritual concepts there are limits to what we can comprehend. It is a difficult road, because we think if we work the cogs a little harder, or ponder at a slightly diverse angle, voila, we will have our answer. Belief is important. There's too many things we don't understand on our own. I have a tremendous time accepting there are many things I will never know. With Enigma 488 though, I'm going to observe closely, I think its worth it. Numerology and angelic #s are the only thing that really pops up. Actually i'm having a read. The only thing I have to go on currently is that photograph which looks almost exactly like me, which feels like its tied in somehow. Maybe I'll search archives too.

You ever notice how time is rather dysphoric ? Like it doesn't quite make sense how you got from one moment to the next, instead of linear its only by the moment, in-between phases (liminal like) and then memories.

I've noticed uncanny happenings recently. Then as I thought about these things Enigma 488 popped up in my mind again...

I experience this a lot. Some things more significant than other things. If I was not a Christian I would think the universe was communicating with me. Things tend to work out for me by happenstance quite often. Example: I live in subsidized housing (the place where I live itself is one of those things). Anyway, I needed to have this certain paperwork done by such and such a time. I put it off waiting to get an award letter in the mail from Social Security and I am supposed to get one every month but it didn't come that month. I needed paperwork to renew my lease and get the paperwork done. It just so happens that like a day before I needed it, my mother's friend whom she knew from her previous job just so happened to work for the county I live in and she was able to pull some strings and get my paperwork sent to me in the nick of time. Things like that just tend to work out for me. Lots of coincidences like that in my life. Most of the time I forget about these things before I have them in my long-term memory, so they just happen and I am blessed by them and then I forget them and move on. Call it God answering my prayers before I pray or that I am a spiritual person or what @ZenRaiden was talking about. IDK what it is.

This is true. I often wonder that if God has given us free will (within confines) then when society attempts to control that with manipulation as such, what are we left with? What is your view on that? The question has been nagging me. Society can easily thwart our choices and by that I refer to our right to free-thinking. Of course free thought can't be theoretically taken away, however because of the evil nature of mankind there will always be cults and worse things out there that really can impact our precepts. When ones will overrules another's, where is the solid ground?

When ones will overrules another's, where is the solid ground?

There's a lot going on in this so let me try and take them one at a time.

I first want to affirm what you say when you talk about people wanting to control things with manipulation. This is very true and affects pretty much everyone on one level or another. Call it greed or love of power or hedonism or whatever else. It's a fact of human nature. Now, if we are free to think what we want to think, then even though God could theoretically take away our free thought to force us to think (and therefore behave) only what he wants us to think and act, that would rob us of our free thought. The way I see it is that God giving us free thought at the beginning is a calculated risk he took knowing some people would abuse it. But he does it because there is something better about us having free thought than us only thinking what he wants us to think. Not only that, but we do see in the Bible itself that humanity tends to go off the rails quite often. Sometimes humanity is so devoted to wickedness that he has to purge humans in His judgment. Think of it like pruning a plant. The dead branches that don't produce fruit get cut off so that the healthy branches produce more fruit. But the problem is that humanity has a bad habit of continuing to go back to doing wicked things over and over and over. So judgment is not the only way that God handles it. Sometimes God sends revival. There are examples of both judgment and revival in both the Old and New Testaments. I could cite passages if you are interested in that. The way I see it is that God deals with human sinfulness in the same way on both a macro scale and an individual level. Sometimes he purges our sinfulness and sometimes he sends us a fresh wave of His presence. But that is what God does about our manipulation and not why we have those tendencies. I would wager that more people are manipulative in one form or another than those who are not manipulative. It could be something relatively innocent like telling a white lie to spare someone's feelings. But that is still a form of manipulation. So why are people manipulative? Human nature. There is something within us that is not satisfied with the way things are. So rather than being thankful for what we have, we try and take shortcuts (lie) to get what we want. And obviously, lying is not the worst kind of manipulation. Sometimes humans force other humans to do things under the threat of pain or death. Slavery has been around as long as humans have walked this earth. That too, is part of human nature. What's more, is that for the vast majority of human history, slavery was considered completely normal. It was just the state of affairs that some humans were worth more than others. It was not until Christians came on the scene that they recognized that all humans are created equal because they were all made in the image of God. So every human has equal rights and dignity. That was very much a Christian thought. But then you say, "What about Christians who manipulate?" Well, the thing about Christianity is that the basic thinking is that just because you are a Christian does not mean you are perfect. Now, a lot of people think if Christianity was so great, then Christians would have more moral fruit to speak of. That is where the "meager moral fruits argument" comes from. But when you really look at the differences between Christians and non-Christians, it's obvious that the meager moral fruits argument does not work. Just one example of this is that Christians tend to volunteer for good causes (even non-Christian ones) more than non-Christians. Does that mean there are no manipulative people who are Christians? Of course not! People are still people and manipulative people will generally use whatever means they can to be manipulative. That includes using Christianity as a means to get what they want. There is a difference between intrinsic and extrinsic faith. The simple difference between these is that intrinsic faith is that people are Christians (or Muslim or whatever else) because they honestly believe it and extrinsic faith is that people are part of a religion because they think it benefits them in some way (like for social, cultural, or political reasons). What the research shows is that people with intrinsic faith get a lot of benefits from religion and people with extrinsic faith often have the reverse effect in the opposite direction. So, when people criticize religious leaders as being manipulative, it is often the people who have extrinsic faith that are the manipulative ones. Now, obviously, religion is not as simple as that and you have a mixture of things going on with people. Some people who have intrinsic faith have manipulative tendencies and some people with extrinsic faith have less manipulative tendencies. But it's a good rule of thumb. Even my church probably has a mixture of people who have intrinsic and extrinsic faith. It's not always that hard to spot. Just ask yourself if it looks like they are a Christian to try to get something out of it or not. You might have to spend some time with the person to be able to determine if they have intrinsic vs extrinsic faith. There are verses in the Bible about this as well.

Sorry for the giant wall of text, but it all sort of relates to your central question.

For more specific thoughts on my view of free will see this:

I counted all the blog posts I made in 2024 so far.

The total was 45 but the side bar said 63.

ratio 45/63 = 0.714285-714285...

0.714285 * 488 = 348.571428-571428...

2023 = 398 posts but this was reduced from above 400 posts later

63/45 = 1.4

1.4 * 348.571428... = 488

398/488 = 0.815573

2024 = 0.714285
2023 = 0.815573

45 / 0.714285 = 63
398 / 0.815573 = 488

That's unique. How do you think it correlates?

sometimes algorithms anticipate things before they happen.

I never made more than 400 blog posts but then it said I made 480 something.

The number seemed to be near what 488 was.

So I inferred that a ratio was at play.

but 488 has nothing to do with my blog posts and is coincidental?

Can't be coincidence. I trust my instincts. Also I would have never linked that myself. Yeah it's a possibility we bunch of thinkers just get bored and link random topics, but in the randomness is a kind of 'algorithm' as you put it.

Night has come. The moon has risen, Enigma 488 is taking root.
I will not be here by morning.
I am grateful to have known this forum and the members present here. There will be a shift in future like none other. This is only a part of it, I am but a shadow. We wonder in life if our pain and sacrifices will be worth it. Do we wander aimlessly through a broken desert of sand and dirt and foliage, swaying like old trees. Our paths are winding, broken, twisted things of eerie reflection. We are not bodies, our residence here is temporary. Towards the end, what comes to mind? Terror, memories, curiosity, reflection, impressions, depth, scope, dolor. You are who you are. Let nothing interfere.

So much depends upon a red wheelbarrow
Glazed with rainwater
Beside the white chickens~
