In addition to music, this is how I find inspiration and motivation through Fe and an example of what I consider to be the development of Fe(Fi?) in individuals, INTP or otherwise.

Photos need not be gruesome, but gruesomeness is acceptable.

Photos must illicit an emotional response from the poster, i.e. you can't just randomly post photos.

Explanations/interpretations of your emotional response are acceptable.

It's advisable to enclose large and/or potentially offensive images in spoilers.

Lo-rider skateboard or 'Hellaflush' Skateboard

Hellaflush is a definition related to cars that I do not fully comprehend.

The truck and risers are above the board.

I'm interested by its aesthetics and how it affects the ride compared to a traditional skateboard.

Yes, I downloaded that picture a few years ago. I have most of the photos from that website as wallpaper possibilities.

, speaking to my intuition)

are they so large i need a spoiler? nah, get a bigger browser instead.

i made this one myself:

These speak for themselves:

Nguyen_Van_Lem_big.jpg

It's interesting you should include this photo. It actually is a good example of how a photograph though utterly truthful can also be misleading by lack of context.

The photo won Adams the 1969 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography, though he was later said to have regretted its impact. The image became an anti-war icon. Concerning Loan and his famous photograph, Adams wrote in Time: “ The general killed the Viet Cong; I killed the general with my camera. Still photographs are the most powerful weapon in the world. People believe them, but photographs do lie, even without manipulation. They are only half-truths ... What the photograph didn't say was, 'What would you do if you were the general at that time and place on that hot day, and you caught the so-called bad guy after he blew away one, two or three American soldiers?

I knew it was a general shooting a VC soldier but didn't see a need to personally delve much further (although I agree it's useful for the purposes of this thread).

I suppose it's because I'm relatively unique among ecologists in that I see people as our most underused and underappreciated resource and value human life as a part of a functional system. The argument that the VC soldier deserved to die certainly has weight ("It was later learned that Lem was suspected of having murdered one of Gen. Loan's senior officers, and his entire family, during the Tet Offensive shortly before Gen. Loan summarily executed him"), but would those same people have done what the VC had done if put in his position? Circumstancial perspectives go on ad infinitum, but I believe the value of the loss to the functional system transcends circumstance.

It's that damn effervescent pacifist hidden within the depths of the ol' soul-void in me...

Remains of a cream house/spring house, i.e. what kept things cold before refrigeration.

I can't help but think of my grandpa getting in trouble for stealing cream before it could be made into butter and his stashes of cigarettes hidden in tree stumps between home and school...

What else is out there? I look in wonder in awe. These were the things that led me to nihilistic beliefs unfortunately though.

Honorable mention to memes and emoticons, they may not bring the most profound feelings up, but they do evoke an emotional response from me the most frequently.

Anything with children, it often startles me how pure their expression seems.

Good choice on the universe pic btw :D

Czech's photo does blow me away.

@thehabitatdoctor : I agree completely. I'm always searching for more than my own personal reaction to something. I think on some level I don't entirely trust my initial gut reaction. I can't divest myself from the things I feel entirely so I note my reaction. Then look around for more information. I see a picture that I find emotive and then I have to find out why. Analyze. Analyze. Analyze.

Edit: Gotta post a pic of my own...

I look at this picture and wonder who could worry about something so silly as their appearance in a situation like that and then realize that life just keeps going on no matter what the situation is. Humans are so very adaptable.

@thehabitatdoctor- am I lame for automatically thinking "Hobbit hole" when I saw that?
I love the one with the "Bird lamenting death." That was quite beautiful.
I literally have nothing of substance that I could add to this thread, so I'm just gonna sit here and appreciate xD

Helicopters, be it an earthquake, flood, famine, search & rescue, medical emergencies or anything else it's the helicopters that are first to bring supplies in and carry people out, for me they represent technology at it's best, the dream of flight being used for a noble cause.

I wouldn't be certain what I'd be feeling in this situation, but I'd be feeling something. (Probably while huddling in the closet with a pillowcase over my head instead of standing around watching it come in like the weirdos in the photo).

None of these photos has had any impact on me.
Your posting of your apparent lack of impact made me post that your lack of mentioned impact has no impact on me, alas, it had some impact becacuse I decided to post in response.

I'm rather fond with other people's eyes. I guess 'Afghan Girl' is good example of what I feel like a pair of "defiance against fate" eyes. It's kind of rare to find these set among the lifeless and defeated ones found in the shoulda's, coulda's and woulda's of the world. I'm usually inspired whenever I see one (talking with their owners also help) and help me get that little "oomph" needed to fight for my own impossible goals.

Got any background for that last photo THD?
Detroit race riot (one of many).

Not sure if this is the same guy or not. Looks older:

Actually, the same is true for me. I need a very specific image that hits home in some way (like the trapper boy) and then I can ride that wave of empathy and project it into other situations. Sometimes I lose track of myself in this in that I declare a new image equal to that original spark, but when I revisit it, that spark isn't there, only in the original.

The last one you posted had some sort of impact on me THD, the rest of them nope. Same thing with me I think.

This picture bothers me for some reason, it's a Swedish conman who used to charm women and promise them everything; whereafter, he would steal their money and disappear; the way he leans against that red sportscar, the look on his face, the pointless weather and surroundings, the way his clothes don't really fit, you can tell he's getting older, it's so jejune, scanty, and sad.

Frank-Sandbergw.jpg

of course its probably a pointless picture for everyone but me :S

The race riot pictures probably had the most impact on me. the majority of this pics had no impact. If my experience can lead me to connect to the picture, then I empathize; considering I know what it means to feel alienated and rejected in some ways, that gives me a point of connection, and some kinds of violence I automatically imagine what it would be like to be the recipient, so I can empathize there.

I also tend to resonate more with painful imagery than happy imagery, unless the happy imagery triggers my "pain" censors in some way (because they are haven't an experience I never got to, or it's something big).

... although I'm reminded of this video... (just focus on the bag):

I guess that's sad, isn't it? A dancing bag is more evocative for me than happy humans? But... it's true.

Cosmic images are the most, "touching" to me. Even more-so when I start to understand their perspective.

Not a photograph, but pertains to the scale of a lot of the photographs posted in the thread.

These are emotional pictures for me, but perhaps not for all of you:

http://bp.uuuploads.com/powerful-photos/powerful-photos-9.jpg

I have no particular opinions about this picture. It's just the only picture that, upon first seeing it on an ad against war in the city, actually caused me to do a double take. It's just interesting how much emotion you can see in this woman. Interesting. (It's also interesting to see how uninterested the little girl appears)

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/bigphotos/images/081216-titan-lakes_big.jpg

This is an artist's rendering of what it looks like at the edge of one of Titan's lakes. For those of you who don't know, Titan is one of Saturn's moons, with a full atmosphere and weather system, except the compound that exists in all three states is methane instead of H20. So there's rain, lakes, clouds, etc with methane. If life exists here, it would be completely different from what we know, but it could theoretically thrive on methane the way we thrive on water. NASA nearly sent a boat there (TiME) but ended up choosing to fund another project to Mars. It's just fascinating, the possibilities of life as well as the eery similarity of Titan to our planet.

http://cosmology.berkeley.edu/Education/CosmologyEssays/images/WMAP_skymap.jpg

Most of you have probably seen this, the Cosmic Microwave Background. It's just fantastic and beautiful. The CMB is actually the most uniform black-body we have ever seen. It's INCREDIBLY uniform, and would be absolutely uniform were it not for quantum physics. The extremely minuscule quantum interactions of these particles is what made the very exaggerated differences in temperature that you see in this map of the CMB over the whole universe. Those small fluctuations, after the expansion of the universe, are what made pockets of more matter-filled and less matter-filled areas in the universe. This eventually led to the galaxy clusters we see today. In other words, were it not for these incredibly minuscule quantum fluctuations and interactions in the early universe, the universe now would be completely uniform, and nothing would exist. You are, in a way, looking at an early rough map of the universe today. I love this picture.

http://spectrum.ieee.org/img/cosmos02x900-1347984111522.jpg

This estimate of the universe shape is possible because of our detection of the CMB.

I've witnessed aurora borealis over my town recently. I didn't take any photographs, it was wonderful to behold anyway. It's quite rare for this phenomenon to appear this far south so I may not be seeing it soon.

The only one that affected me(granted most pics have been deleted). Despair, misery and giving in just leaves me as dull and apathetic as usual, it's when I see defiance that it affects me, for a few seconds anyway.
