Maybe this isnt as novel a thought as I hoped.
I personally believe that thinking and intuition are the two most important functions for a brilliant and novel thinker. A strong thinking ability that has time to develop absent sensory overload and feeling coupled with intuitive leaps of faith, can produce a very unorthodox mind.
