Like the cognitive functions make it seems like as if we've got special powers or something. It also makes other people more interesting, to see what their type and functions are..

lately it just makes me feel bad for the most part.

i've gotten into thinking my Ne is inferior. a phase hopefully. or maybe it's an irreversible method to solidify/consolidate self-hatred. :D

I think I'd feel more special if I related more to the profile or something. As is, I'm not certain of any typing, so I feel bitter about the whole ordeal.

Some people call the first two functions your "Super Powers" (e.g. "DaveSuperPowers" who did some popular MBTI videos on YouTube). I like the concept as I think there's too much emphasis placed on being well rounded in this world. Noticeably it's the ES types in particular who push this idea, and it corresponds to their preference for "taking it all in".

Anyhow I love the concept but, at least for the INTP (as far as I've thought about), the SuperPowers really are the top three, not just the top two, namely Ti-Ne-Si. That leaves Fe as the trickster and outsider, still part of the system as it provides the overall motivation for the trio but not part of their day-to-day activities.

This point is worth a separate thread - posted.

knowing mbti and similar structural elements makes me feel special.

being my type makes me feel like shit. it has never payed out.

and i can't connect the two, even if it seems like i may have a moderate talent for understanding typology, due to my type (am still confused though, only on a very high level), it's not like i have invented it, i really owe it mostly to carl jung and ken wilber.

I kind of gave up trying to understand cognitive functions. I have literally received an answer "Your personality has not been found." Most often I have scored INTJ for the standard four letters, and INTP for cognitive functions, and a bozo ex who's convinced I'm an INFP. These all being from weak sources. The first result I have lost long ago; although I recall it saying I'm the Pragmatist, and my AA English teacher was floored by my result. I just give up. :kodama1:

I don't understand how cognitive functions would make you feel special; I see this as an attempt to explain how people differ so we can better understnad/accept each other. I do think this dude is pretty darn special though.

To answer your question directly, yes. the MBTI makes me feel special and superior to everyone in every way imaginable. Isn't that the purpose of MBTI?
