The ones i can predict are funny, you just know this guy is the killer, unsuspecting victim splits up and goes with killer- your like aww hell nah he is the killer get out- ah nah wait ahhhh she dead.

Ones like that kinda laugh

The ones that cant predict dont usually scare me either because your aware of what the typical thing that a psychotic murderer would do, not sure but your like ah this is gonna happen

50-50 with those- ah wait if im being honest probably less

The ones that get me are when shit force their way into people like the second starship troopers, that and clowns f$@!ing hate clowns

yesh i do like them, but i'm afraid of dark when i go to bed. For example, when i watched insidious, the scene of the demon waiting next to the kid's bed made me have serious problems to sleep for like a week.
I liked The Warren files, or whatever the original name is. Fuck you translators

I like being scared. I'm a skeptic in terms of any of such thing being real, but I also immerse myself into a situation and am aware of all the cues, so it's possible for me to get myself into a state of experiencing fear/anxiety where possibilities exist and I enjoy it. I watch a lot of horror movies; most bore me, the atmospheric ones are the best. Also like dark fantasy. There are some decent computer games with spooky ambiance as well.

Heh. Yeah, there were a few good money shots in there. Sinister and Mama have a few of those too.

Maybe if you pull the blanket up over your head so you can't see the demon, then maybe it can't see you either. (Okay, it didn't entirely work for the Babadook.)

I like watching them with people but I can't do it alone nopenopenopeee unless I'm surrounded by people during the film and after for a week it's likely I'll have anxiety attacks because I can't ever completely separate myself from fiction and reality after I've experienced something immersive. i can be on the edge of my seat, as intended, but i can handle it reasonably well. i can't remember a movie that was so scary that i was inclined to abort it. certainly not alien or antichrist or cute stuff like that.

i do remember movies that were so gross that i was offended by the theme. salo is one of those motherfuckers. if i find myself wanting to go and torture the director, it's best to stop watching. :beatyou:

not sure if i love being terrified, i prefer other genres.
sci-fi, history, confused psycho stuff.

some movies have inspired my dreams but dreams like that aren't all that horrible, it's more likely they are just as fascinating as the movie.

but i remember one genuine nightmare/false-awakening-hallucination inspired by a vampire movie. that archetype became pretty real for me.

Old horror movies is quite comedic especially if you can notice the special effects.

As for the being scared part, the supernatural horror sub-genre (ex. The Ring) scares me more than the slash and gore sub-genre (ex. Saw).

By the way, I think I'm more scared/frightened by horror games. Maybe it's the immersion thing.

Hmmm, I like some of the older well done ones. I generally don't like to put those images in my mind. I have a hard time not fully immersing myself in them and I'm hypersensitive to that kind of stuff.

Its funny that you say that because I have always been intrigued by them but never really exposed to them whether scary or not.

I was going to ask in the Ask Architect thread but here's as good a place as any. Your comment almost makes me thing I have Ne if I didn't know any better. I'm guessing its just a shadow function acting up because it stems from negativity and how I am being critisized as not being ISFP. So the question is, how does Fi seem to look like Ne sometimes?

I enjoyed the depressing ambience it has. The plot is ok and the kid is awesome.

Kid and mom were excellent, tonally great movie; plus it can be a bit unclear what's real and what's in her head. I recommend it.

I like psychological horror movies. It's like "hey, you're in this crazy situation and you've got so many options, what do you think each option will bring, and what will you choose to do?". Horror doesn't exactly scare me though, but it can shock me. Game of Thrones where the guy got his head squished by that other guy was pretty shocking. I felt slightly uncomfortable for three days, even though it's not real.

Considering you might be attached to a character and have certain expectations for how something will play out, and then not only does it totally NOT go that way but results in a pretty realistic looking and gruesome resolution, well, being uncomfortable seems pretty reasonable.

I thought that was a pretty great episode, but I also felt pretty sick afterwards. I was probably shell-shocked for a day or two. Of course that's nothing like the Internet outrage I was observing over that time. FaceBook was swarming with madness.

I think the Saw movie series has some pretty gruesome scenes in it, but since you're not as attached to the characters, the impact is more visceral rather than emotional.

Se7ven anyone?

Ringu?

The Crow?

All movies I loved.

Also Blade 3 (because that's the only one of the series I've seen.)

Monemto?

Myriad of Anime could fit as well. (Samurai X is my all time favorite anime)

You mean "Memento" by Christopher Nolan?

Ringu is pretty good. Se7en is tonally/visually pretty amazing.

Kinda. I really hate the suspense style where nothing happens ever for like 30 minutes at a time. Just when you are thinking oh hey nothings happened then something happens then nothing happens again.

More popular horror movies like Saw, etc., tend to bore me, and the introductions are usually so poor that I can't suspend disbelief long enough to get into the story.

I avoid the overly violent stories like Ichi the Killer, etc., with strong themes of abuse toward people unable to fairly defend themselves for reasons.

As far as the more cerebral horror stories go, even mildly believable psychological thrillers/suspenses scare the crap out of me. I have no idea why. I try to pretend they don't, but I maybe finish 1 in 4 that I attempt to read/watch because it just gets too scary and I have to walk away or risk spending a week afraid of the dark.

For fucks sake, Dr. Who has me wary of stone statues.

Patience my dear padawan.

Stuff is happening. That's why, when it's effective, it's actually effective. it's just such a slow creep that it might look like nothing.

But it's like you sitting in your apartment alone. and then the slow creak of the floorboards, with nothing visible. And the feeling like eyes are boring into the back of your head, but when you look... nothing. Even if someone, invisible to you, is looking through that dark window watching your every move.

A slight unexpected breeze as something invisible moves past you in the dark. As you're trying to sleep. Creeping up slowly on the bed. Looming over you in the dark.

And then.

WHAM.

Not that anyone would be sneaking around in your apartment at night, to do nasty things to you. No one you can see, anyway. You won't notice anything until it's too late.

I can't handle the ghostly ones. I really don't like the feeling they give me. Utter terror. Gore-flicks are great, horror movies are ok too.
However even though Paranormal activity left me shit-scared I thought it was a great film. Most scary movies are pointless crap with no decent story.

^ I haven't but I heard it's good.

I think my scary movie phobia is from a trauma I had when I first watched Thriller. The part where Mike turns into a Werewolf and when you see him mid change screaming in pain with yellow eyes. I was 3 at the time and it left a lasting terror of scary/shock imagery.

Yeah... Life is tough.

My bro who is 22 still can't watch a part of the LOTR because bilbo makes a scary face. I wonder what could have fucked him up so much that he still can't watch that part.

Haha, yea I know the part. Similar principle I guess. Premature exposure to frightening imagery?

Sadly, I always involuntarily laugh at that scene, which likely is not what was intended. (When I saw it in the theater, a number of people also laughed; it wasn't just me.) Jackson really mishandled it; there's a lot I think he messed up in those movies, even if he did nail some other things.

EDIT:

Like thrillers. It's OK feeling a bit of fear, but not as much as in horrors. I just don't like watching cruelty.

but wars and fights are great, and violence there doesn't bother me.
