I was wondering, if man can totally avoid pleasures increasing his/her discipline to the limit. I didn't find the answer though...
Do you guys know where lies limit of a self-discipline? Is pleasure needed to live?

I'd like to make some test, one is behind me (I had no pleasure for a week, hope this will increase my productivity in learning, but it didn't). Now I want to focus more on doing stuff, so I give up pleasures and force myself to do more.

Discipline to gain pleasure... (timeframes short-term chameolon satiation, long term retiree slog jog)

Pleausure to gain/maintain discipline( jail sex?)

Do bhuddist monks seek pleasure eternal through great dolops of disci?

Be disciplined in that which gives one pleasure(do the job that ye like, sewer-cleaning cacophage!)

So many variables... the paperpusher/databaser loves filing?

The whore... for some pleasure and some disci.

Clean room now.. like my clean cave. No walrus innards.
Germophobe. Slob. Bums... discplined beggars... pleasure of the minimalist after labour of the laggard.

Pleasure not needed to live... suicide not fate for all eternal sufferers. Despair becomes the drug, the pleasure, the routine of self defeat or enslavement by the universe.

@Manipulator: Details further of experiment. Perhaps of pleasure types and disci actions. Even if no pleasure... how to control brain in week?

Cleaning the shitter: oh what a lovely sound of bird.

Studying, grasping: pleasure of competency.

Perhaps external hedonism you seek to abolish to germinate internal disci to complete external chores?

Delayed reward... pleasure gained through disci timeframed... by habit, chores become the drool of Pavlov's pooch.

Seems you have a wrong mental construct where pleasure implies procrastination. There is also a pleasure in achievement, there is a pleasure in discipline all its own.

But if you find yourself rigidly doing things with no pleasure at all, that would seem to me a most miserable life.

What do you mean when you say you "had no pleasure for a week"?

I've often wondered if extraordinary people have minds that were forced to adapt to extraordinary circumstances and if those circumstances could be created artificially, for example could someone develop their willpower by putting it to the test by means of self inflicted torture.

This could also apply to discipline especially if you focus on the reason for that discipline, reminding yourself of what you're trying to achieve every time you risk falling to temptation.

But don't stop masturbating dude that's not healthy, some words of wisdom from my grandfather "partake of everything in moderation".

true, doesn't everyone have that?
What do you mean when you say you "had no pleasure for a week"?
no videa games, no music, no movies, no funny videos, no instant pleasures etc.
instead I write a book, do stuff for university, read book (non-fabular), read articles about science, exercise everyday, update my website, learn, etc...

today I started...

that's right, you write in a very funny style xd

I think the answer is no, because you can't fool yourself (or at least I can't, because I noticed some people maybe can, I'm not sure...)
But don't stop masturbating dude that's not healthy
I stop it for a week, maybe for a month, but I don't think it's good to stop it forever. Anyway I should find a girlfriend, but every nice girl is taken, and free ones usually have some mental problems :/ (but it can be only at my uni xD)

You're not really fooling yourself, it's a test, you either perform the feat of self discipline or you don't and it's all up to you whether you succeed or fail, granted there's no shortcuts if you want to perform extraordinary feats of self discipline you'll need to work your way up to it with lesser feats.

Dating sites and pickup bars are horrendous, try to socialize with your classmates (go to social outings or host them yourself) or better yet work in retail there's a lot of camaraderie that comes with working a shitty part-time job. If you expand your social circle, dress well, look after yourself, be friendly and unabashedly like the things you like and dislike the things you don't you'll sort of gravitate towards people like you.

My personel journal, effects of day 1.
Quite productive day, I finished all house chores that I wanted to do in a last few days, did some progress on my website, read some science articles, and some other minor stuff that was interesting, but didn't the most important, the University report. Also my mood is really bad, when I looked into a mirror I was like a zombie.
Phenibut could help me, but I can't find it anywhere, always out of stock. I feel so much hatred for guys from governments who make nootrops harder to get. Maybe it's time to join underground and rebel against the whole world.
