Disappearing posts

I know this has been an issue for some of you. They don't actually disappear, they wind up waiting for moderation approval.

It may be frustrating, but for those few legitimate posts that get delayed, much obnoxious spam is stopped before it ever gets to darken our forum. The system isn't perfect - for some reason some spam still slips through. And I repeat myself (Grrr !): sometimes a real post doesn't pass automatically.

No, some posts with links get through, just some don't. Especially posts with multiple links, especially when the links are close together. Advertisement posts often look like that.

How about if you first post your post without all the links and images, and then edit them in? That might work... I'll try it with a .info link right now, they usually get blocked because spam sites use them (any idea why, anyone?).

Yes, that worked, I'd be tempted to try whether it gets blocked when posting a new post, but I don't think the moderators would like that.

Hm, i just discovered another curiosity: I can't edit posts anymore if they are older than, i don't know, a day or so (or a logout, login?). Nothing serious, just annoying to reread old posts and not be able to erase typos :-P

Last night i posted a new thread, but i had some links (all to the same domain) in it, so probably it got sacked. I'll repost it (without the links), hoping the old try doesn't appear afterwards

From memory there's a twenty-four window for editing your posts.

Nah, really no problem, that can happen, and if not done by bad will (You're not Melkor, right? ), then there is really no problem

And probably the digital nirvana is so full of things... (Haha, i really read a thread in a linux forum, where someone asked, what would happen to the data if it gets erased...haha, that was fun to read)

Were there some links in that post? Sometimes posts with multiple links get eaten (well, get shown the moderators to decide if it is spam). Normally your posts gets accepted by loveofreason or so sometime later.

Why your second attempt didn't work i don't know.

Post it without the links, then edit it and put the links in (it doesnt block it when you edit). Then when the old one gets aproved and apears just delete it

Yep, that works too of course.
(As i started the Socionicsthread, i first posted it with many links in it, it got eaten, so i posted one again without links and edited the links in. Then lor wanted to approve of the original, deleted the new one, and accidentally deleted the old one too
So i just wanted to show that the old post is not in nirvana, it just sits on hold until it gets approved. Perhaps you may wait, or you tell lor through pm that you post a new one, and tell her to delete the old one...

Now I understand why my post was deleted for three times. o.O The first one I thought I did something wrong, the second time was just strange and by the third time I've realized there must be something wrong with the board or my post - it had wikipedia link in it. So it awaits moderation now?

edit: I've posted it now without the link. I hope it will be alright.
