INTP = Ti Ne Si Fe Te Ni Se Fi

INTJ = Ni Te Fi Se Ne Ti Fe Si

Everyone have all 8 functions but they go in a different order for each type. The 5th-8th functions are unconscious. The order means strength and ease of use as well as literally being an order that things go in.

Si uses reference points from the past to recognize patterns whereas Ni uses the future to, given how things should "ideally" play out, or realistically, according to the environment and cues. The strength of the function varies in what spot it's in, so ENXP (NeJi) does Ne more often than INXP (JiNe), hence introversion/extroversion.

The functions are just opposite. Ti is Fe and Te is Fi. So Se is connected to Ni and Ne Si. Everyone uses all the functions so if it isn't the main normal ones, they're in the shadow. They'll be "weaker" or less routine oriented, so Ti is still connected to Te and Fi as that, just on different axes. But the opposite of Ti is still Fe, so Te is more like an "inverse", plus given nature vs nurture and gene expression, these ideas and concepts, MBTI or "personality theory", can be observed in human behavior.

I'll just add a bit to this:

Both Ni and Si can be focused on both the past and the future. The difference between them is patterns versus details. So since we know the details of the past, but for the most part only have a general idea of the future, Si gets associated with the past, and Ni with the future.

But say you say something like "next tuesday I'm going to [do such and such]". That's Si because it's specific, but it's still about the future. And Ni could say something like "several years ago I started to be more [such and such]". It's talking about a trend that happened in the past. Ni will often try to map out how something evolved, though often the point is to then predict how it's going to evolve next.

The thing about "reference points" is probably accurate, although for Ni there can be a "telling data point" which seems to be key in understanding the pattern that manifested. But basically Si is more concrete, so the data it uses is more specific and can be clearly referenced.

It's where you get the "big picture" from, as Si focuses on details and Ne is the forest. So they still focus on the details, as does Se with their eyesight on the environment, and decide off them. So it's just comparing bit data to "last time" or in the case with Ni, what the person "should do" according to their introverted tendencies.

It more so has a connection to Se and "sensation" as well as the physical. That means Se users would want to eat, or perform activity like sports, to satisfy their Ni/Se spectrum before they drain and have to recharge.
