I quit back when my 300-400 dps ethereal sledgehammer on my druid broke. I used to run up and down the hills with werewolf form outrunning the barbarians. Good times :P Once the sledge broke it just wasn't fun anymore :P

weapons can break in DiabloII? lol​

ethereal ones can... unless you manage to get your hands on a zod rune (good luck with that...) and stick it in the socket.

was very sad watching the durability of the weapon slowly inch towards destruction. Was absolutely the most powerful non-unique weapon I'd ever seen.

Still have the game but never tried the battlenet option. Not sure if it will even play on this computer. I am looking forward to 3 if it ever comes out.

Diablo 2 was one of my favourite games ever. I especially loved the music, by Matt Uelmen.

Diablo 3 IS coming out, not sure when, but it was announced a few months ago by Blizzard.

Maybe. Would it be through battlenet? I lost both of my cd-keys a long time ago, and now I use bogus keys in order to play single player or lan with friends.

I'll join up, but I won't be able to make it to every game. Would it be OK with you if I brought along my level 25 Necromancer? I might still have the character somewhere on another computer. I suppose I could escort the newbies until they gather enough points or perhaps even loan some gold to them if they're a bit short.

I think we should play a maximum of seven players. Then each of us will each be a different class. We can draw straws or do something random for which class we get.

I think it's a good idea to play on a private server too...

Count me in. I've never actually played Diablo II before, but I have a 'legal' copy of it on my computer that I've been meaning to play for ages. Guess I'll try to build up a character in the mean time.

I think a private server would be best. Also, I think it's best if we all start a new character (it's the most fun that way). We don't exactly have to go as one player per class, so long as we don't use the same specs (skills).

I don't think hamachi would be good for such an international array of players - it would probably be too laggy. Of course, we have enough players here to split it into two groups of about four (which is more fun than eight because it's harder with players8 mode on). Then we could sort the two groups based on location, perhaps?

From what I've read on it, the only problem is trying to connect to Bnet. Since we're trying to do a private server we should be golden.

You can play in closed battlenet realms, which are indeed impossible to play in with single player characters. Or you can play on open battlenet, which is playable by single player characters (and hence often has hackers with impossibly strong characters). We would either be playing on a private server, which is definitely playable with single player characters, or on open battlenet. (also, I haven't started playing yet, not until we get the details sorted out. no fun playing without others when you've played D2 as much as I have)

If you regard it as time wasted, maybe you shouldn't be playing the game. By that thinking, I've 'wasted; hundreds upon hundreds of hours in the past.

Anyway, I guess most of you haven't played D2 as much as I have, and hence are more attached to your characters than I am (I've made tons and lost many).

I think if we have not choose a patch yet, than I think we should try and run 1.11b, because if we could get "plugy v8.0" to work in private games we could simulate a closed battle.net game which allow's ladder rune words, dclone etc
