When you meet the end, what's going to happen to your body.

How should I know? I won't be around to tell them what to do.

Honestly though, I don't care. Once I'm dead my body is of no significance, apart from sentimental value to my family.

Tibetans have an interesting albeit horrifying ritual called a sky burial.

When I originally saw photos of it I thought they had murdered someone and were trying to dispose of the body. This is the link I was given, you probably don't want look through it; it's very disturbing. Worse than the Black Dahlia photos by far.

I really wish I had clicked the first link first. And then I went and Google Image searched "Black Dahlia" too. No sleep for me tonight.

Oh my goodness. Read the wiki but didn't look at the pics. That sounds horrifying.

"Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms."

OP: I've never understood why people want to be "disposed of" in specific ways, barring religious rituals. Once you're dead, what do you care? It's not like you can enjoy it.
I guess some people are just strange.

You have to admit that it is a fairly efficent way to get rid of a body. Honestly though, I wasn't to grossed out by that. Matter of fact I found it to be rather interesting.

Was it really that disturbing? :slashnew:

I looked at the pics and searched online and I really don't find a reason to be disturbed to the point of not being able to sleep. It was actually real interesting, by the way. :D

I'm going to send it to all my friends.

As for the Sky Burial, it isn't horrifying to me. I have no connection to this body after I die. Death ceremonies are for the living. If they find solace in the idea of having my body be reclaimed by nature then so be it. Even a sky burial is fine though it is a bit macabre. I was at first surprised at the less then grief stricken facial expressions on the faces of the men performing the sky ritual. Then I remembered the zombie jokes my boyfriend told sotto voce at his grandfather's funeral. It breaks the tension. Humor is a grounding and centering part of life.

Could this be the reason INTPs are seen as weird? :D:D:D

Sometime in my 40-50s I intend to have my brain removed and placed on artificial life support, although (having researched this extensively) my brain isn't actually going to be removed from my cranium itself for safety reasons (blood-brain barrier and all that), so in effect they’ll just be taking my head off, minus things like the skin, hair, jaw, most of the muscle tissue, etc as they wont be necessary anymore.

And unless I can re-fab a new head and thus make my old by a biological puppet (a proxy), I'll probably sell it to a cannibal or experiment on if for my own twisted amusement.

No way. I was actually going to say this too... that's really funny. :P
Either that or have my ashes scattered in the ocean and my other favorite places. I don't want people to mourn over my grave or anything like that. It's just so... dismal. Hell, I don't even want a funeral, just a huge party with everyone I know well laughing about all the stupid things I did and celebrating my life in general.

One of the Roman Emperors requested a subvention from the Treasury and was informed there was not enough cash at hand. So he asked, "What about my funeral ? Will there be enough for a good send-off ?"

"Most certainly, Highness: it will be a magnificent affair with no stint of mourning ceremonies."

"In that case, give me the money now, and chuck me in the Tiber."

Haha, that is pretty funny. ;)

I like the idea of ashes as well, but my favorite places would require a bunch of mountains to be climbed...too much effort for those doing the scattering. Even in death I have to keep laziness in mind.

exactly.

If it were possible though, I would want my body to be sent into space, where I would actually REST IN PEACE.

Personally speaking, when it is my time to go, I want to die with a little dignity. I don't want to die in a hospital hooked up to a bunch of machines or at home surrounded by friends and family. No, I want to be able to walk into the woods and die there quietly and without fanfare. Let my mortal remains return to the land. As for my collection of crap, sell it, buy some good booze and party like rock stars.

what does it matter................... you'll be dead....... you wont even know whats being done to you.........

Which ever way you choose...... you end up as dust anyway.

Hopefully I can convince by offspring to cannibalize (eat my flesh) me so that they can honestly say that I was part of their lives.

This way my wife wont be lying when she tells them....... "He's always with you".

...........well......... at least the parts that arent flushed down the toilet....
