I just stuck on a hug cpu heat sink and now my computer won't boot. The bios screen does not even display. The problem is not the graphics card because functions I have modded onto windows don't cause the computer to engage in processes. Hence, it doesn't boot into windows.

The cpu led flashes once and turns off. The board power led is on. The Mem ok led remains on. I have tested each stick of ram individually on each slot. The ram does not seem to be the problem. I pressed the mem ok button and it engages in the tuning process but no results eventuated.

All motherboard power leads are plugged in. It is turned on at the wall.

Some thermal contact did spill over onto the side of the cpu causing two gold pads to connect. (I put too much on). I cleaned it off using 90% isopropyl alcohol.

I'm out of ideas of figuring out what is wrong with it.

I think I will have to buy a new cpu. If that does not work a new mobo. I don't want to spend the money because I just payed $1000 to fix my car. Working part time and being a uni student doesn't really allow you to have much spending money.

Help me!!! Please?

All I want is to boot into bios.

Did you try to reset the CMOS battery? Doesn't sound very good, though.

I am operating the computer in question at the moment. It appeared that it was suffering from a conjunction of problems. The pci slot where my graphics card was initially plugged into has failed and the ram was not properly slotted in. The i7 860 processor is now functioning correctly after I cleaned it a second time. There was some residue left on the underside.

My next adventure is throwing another gtx 295 in the thing.
