I happened to notice something while watching A Christmas Story for at least the tenth year in a row. And that is, there is nothing special whatsoever about Christmas, or any day, really. There is so much hype and preparation and anticipation for it, but when it is here, it just comes and goes and ends up in obscurity, just like any other day. Is it really worth it, all that for just one day?
Nothing (or at least, not much) happens in a day. There are barely any single days that have transformed the course of history, or revolutionized science. Time can be best understood as a dynamic system, where change occurs over months or years. There must be, then, some type of beauty in the mundanities of life. This is all I can pull out of this. There must be some sort of sacred aspects in the profane and everyday.
There is certainly more to say, but I don't know how to say it. Build upon, or deconstruct, this idea as you see fit.
