Am I? Are we? The girl I was talking to recently called me such a word, and I don't even know how to reply...because I probably am.

It's easy to perceive an INTP that way but generally I don't think so. I've been called callous or its ilk and the complete opposite.

A strength of not being overly emotional is that when conversation comes up with a person that is struggling with something you can talk to them and calm them while avoiding get caught up in the emotion. Kiersey in his book, "Please Understand Me II", talks about the Rational/Idealist couple and says the Idealist is prone to tempests of emotion that can be debillitating and that the Rational can serve an anchor that gives them safe respite and calm. Conversely the Idealist helps draw out some of the emotional side of the Rational which helps to invigorate them.

In the gutter with my mind.
Well...Callous might not be the word. The need for precision in speech and slight deficiency in the "feeling" department strikes me as blunt rather than "callous." But if you don't understand why the person in question is getting so emotional, that can look bad to F types - like you don't care that they're freaking out/offended/whatever. My sister told me I do that sometimes. :D I only really notice it if they freak out though, and remain oblivious to almost anything less.

Or it might just be that the person you're talking to is overly sensitive.

We're just direct. I'm more sensitive than anything, just not always as sensitive to others as I should be. And I sometimes have a tendency to ignore or reject what doesn't make sense to me, which can end up hurting people's feelings.
