I am thinking about giving up on searching for things to do. Everyday I wake up and do the same routine, eat, drink, piss, shit, take care of my hygiene, sit at computer, and then sleep. The computer is the only outlet I am able to access other than the library and some school supplies I can use to write or draw. When I give up and finally stop searching for possibilities, what will happen to me? Will just live (a.k.a what's highlighted in red) as a depressed, stressed, 16 year old? When school starts it's going to get even worse because teachers will just pile homework on top of my frustration, causing my grades to sink into hell. This "job search crap" is going no where for me, even after 2 months of online job application.
No friends, no money, no patience.

I wonder if I can even give up searching. Every time I try I end up ranting on and on (to myself) about how there must be something on the internet that is entertaining.

Being bored is great for productivity, if you're struggling with homework give yourself absolutely nothing else to do and after an hour of sheer nothing I guarantee you'll do you homework if only for something to do, or you'll have found something really interesting to think about which is never a bad thing, interesting thoughts make for interesting people.

Try going for a lengthy jog. Exercise helps alleviate depression and the feeling of boredom that results.

As someone who is chronically bored, that's really good advice. In general, try to act like an S-type. Kick a football, do some push-ups, run, throw darts and/or knives (:))... it all helps when your intuition is at a loss (what boredom is for me).

I wouldn't say my intuition is lost. It just has nothing interesting to do so it will occasionally brainstorm things to do or come up with ridiculous ideas that are (depending on the time of day) shot down by Introverted Sensing. Exercising is a good idea because of the release of endorphins and because Introverted Sensing can't find a reason to shoot it down except weather conditions which are temporary.

My question isn't how to cure either (it's actually fun to ponder that problem). It is what exactly happens to a person's mind/brain when they just give up on looking for creative outlets. Will my ability to think creatively be affected after long periods of not being able to use it on something? Does the Ti-Si loop actually exist or is Ne and Fe still somewhat active? Is this a case of "use it (creativity/imagination) or lose it (again creativity/imagination)?"

I'm never bored and it's a problem. I always have something to read or research or think about...to the point where I avoid things I should be doing instead of staring at a wall spacing out or surfing the web and adding to one of my numerous running research dump note files.

Agreed with Absurdity though. If I'm feeling anxious or stuck jogging helps reframe things and get a fresh start.

Exercise may seem like a good idea and it is but I doubt it will really excite you for an extended period of time. I tried running once and thought that was a interesting hobby but it only lasted as long as I was motivated, which is usually a month or a bit more.

As mentioned before in this thread, I'd recommend learning an instrument. Now only if that idea excites you. Music seem to excite a lot of INTPs though.

Alternatively, think of something you wish you would have started at an earlier age or think that you are not capable of learning, that would be something to go for.

I ran track in my first two years of high school and did horribly because I wasn't competitive. I did long distance and ran for very for periods of time but I couldn't even place in track meets. I had to stop due to shin splints. Now I want to focus on increasing my knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Psychology, and Philosophy. I always enjoyed these things but now I'm more anxious than ever to go to college and learn more.

This is my plan that I may or may not follow through on:

Refine: Mathematics, English Skills (Grammar/Rhetoric)

Learn/Study: Physics, Computer Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Neuroscience, Languages, Statistics

Hobbies/Interest: Reading Books, Writing in Journal, Listening to music, Photography, Online Gaming, Anime/Visual Novels, Posting on Forums, Sketch/Draw, Puzzles, Editing Photos/Digital Art, Watch TV (news, science, detective shows), Board/Card Games, Exercising, Meditation, and make list

Practice: Programming, Engineering, Math Problems

There is more than one kind of boredom. (I'll wing a definition:
Boredom = that emotion or feeling of being stuck without stimulation.)

One kind of boredom is all around boredom when you're stuck in a cage, can't get out and run out of things to do. You are not stimulated and need to be. The other kind is when you have ten projects, feel or are forced to be committed to one, and it isn't stimulating. Then boredom is a good thing. It tells you to leave and go to the other nine. This happens to me when I'm shopping with my wife, she is busy shopping and I'm stuck without a book to read and have to wait for her.

I forgot what I was going to say. Oh exercise. This is good if you are bored sitting around. It changes your body because it gets the juices flowing. Your brain (Si) is knocked out from where it was and you find yourself in a new place. Reminds me of a vacation. That's what a vacation does.

I typically force myself to get going on some book or anime series or rpg

takes dedication to push through the initial phase of apathy but then I always feel involved

So you're saying you've got nothing to do and nothing to strive for, yet you acknowledge that once there's things you have to do, you feel even worse.

I'd advise doing something you somewhat enjoy, but which takes away certain luxuries you spend most of your time with (= computer). Try some summer camp, go on a hike for a while, do something completely diffrent... Coming back from a hike, my companion and I both realise howmuch more appreciation we have for simple things we take for granted. Certain good and fresh food, a soft bed, a bath, the ability to sleep in, a computer with internet, ...

Consider yourself very lucky to have internet.

I'm from a time with no internet at all!

I just sit down and wait until the internet be invented.

Now I'm waiting the singularity.

Life is boring.

Listen to this music from a brazilian band about boredom, I like to listen this song when I get bored...

I can't believe I'm just making up all the posts in this forum as well as all the members within my bored little mind.

... I agree with Hawkeye, for a more serious post. I find myself more creative when I'm offered restrictions to work with; otherwise I have no idea which way to go.

Hmm... I myself am somewhat rather bored... Especially recently, but a solution I found was to learn programming, which not only gave me a worthwhile task to do but also rekindled my other interests. Starting something novel and perhaps ambitious apparently can help me, although I can't speak for anyone else... ^-^
