Bonjour à tous !
I noticed this forum was seriously lacking baguette, accordeon and mimes. Obviously, you need more french members, INTPforum!
About me: INTP since 1979, now 32, in a relationship for 12 years, living in Paris, soon to be father of a little girl (2000 hours left), loving correspondance chess (*I*ntp!), drinking wine, drawing, playing the guitar/piano, traveling (20 countries so far, so many yet to discover!), juggling, breaking things doing so, writing bad poetry, reading essays on myths and early religions, drinking more wine, writing slightly better poems..
Taking the MBTI test was a big thing for me; made me realize I was less alone in this crazy world. Happy to join you people! Hope you'll forgive my frenchness.

I have yet to learn French, though I plan to. I've been a fan of the Le Mans 24 hour race at la Sarthe for quite some time now, and have been planning to go when I have 2,000 spare US dollars.

Anyway welcome! (insert French greeting here)

I didn't know French spoke English =O Or any other language than their own. I don't know, maybe it's just bad experiences from French tourists expecting me to speak French

Funny the French get annoyed at English people asking them to speak English in France. Understandable in a way. But hey! *insert random French sarcastic comment about the British here*

Damn, I agree, Italians tend to be even worse though.
It sometimes takes a long, long time to find an English speaking Frenchman or Italian.
This is all subjective, though. ;)

@yet: I'm game!

@Dimensional Transition: So nice to be welcomed in french! Really feel at home here now :)

@Lobstrich: Actually we don't. There are just 3 or 4 of us doing translation work for the others. Hell of a job I assure you.

@digital angel :
Pas mal! Merci pour ton accueil ;)

@The Gopher: :D Most french tourists are ALSO annoyed at people not speaking french when they travel abroad! (and for some reason, they tend to be annoyed a lot)

I blow my nose at you, so-called "Arthur King," you and all your silly English K-nig-hts.***
Done.

Welcome to the forums. :)

Congratulations on being a father and I think it's excellent that you're a traveler. Where, exactly, have you been?

I don't know much French, myself. En garde?

@nihilen: Tous unis pour le Front de résistance francophone ! ;)

@EyeSeeCold: Thanks! Some places I've been (either for business or leisure, for vary various length of stay): Japan (about 8 months), Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Nepal, India, Germany, Italy, Spain, Czec Republic, Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Norway, Turkey, UK, Cameroon, Chad, Morocco, Kenya, South Africa, Madagascar, Brazil.. That's about it so far ;)

I'm dreaming to visit Burma and Iran. Central Asia is quite appelaling too, but I'll have to wait till my daughter is strong enough to travel safely ;) Any of you have some experience traveling in developing countries with small children BTW?

If you mean what I'm doing for a living I'm working for an NGO.
As for wine, I'm not very specific (nor very wine savvy). Bordeaux wine can be amazing, but you have to invest some money to get quality. I also like cote-du-rhone. You can have some good surprises too with underrated wine types from the south of France sometimes.
I totally dislike 'beaujolais nouveau' ; it's horrible!

This is hard to say. Professionals (HR folks mainly) seem to use it quite a lot. In the general public I think it is still widely unknown. None of my friends had heard about it before I told them it existed. The very low number of posts on the largest french MBTI forum (http://mbti.forumactif.fr/) also seems to indicate MBTI is not very popular yet in the country.

Is it any different in Australia?

How common/popular is the MBTI in France?

It is not unheard of in Australia, but I don't think its use is as common as it is in the USA.

Nice. I think I'd like a career with business trips to other cities and countries. I hear you shouldn't mix Business and Pleasure though.

Salut! Ca va?

Et...that's about all I remember from the class I took 10 years ago. :slashnew:

Un question: How did you choose "deadcaribou"? I've eaten caribou and it's pretty good.

Salut Cavallier ! (french nickname?)

"I was looking for a new random username and it was the first picture that came to my mind. Please don't ask why.
I once played a correspondance chess game under this nickname against a certain 'DecayedMoose'. Must be a chess player thing I guess"

Never tasted caribou (or by accident, at Ikea's cafeteria...) I have to make a proprer caribou meal some day.
Maybe someone should start a "weirdest thing you ate" thread on the forum if it doesn't already exist!
