Did anyone watch this? I tend to stick to adult cartoons, because i feel like they dont affect my mannerisms like watching live actors. Its pretty humorous and witty, but as you watch it more you start to catch some dark undertones and its a really thought provoking series.

I saw the first episode but I couldn't get into it. I don't know why.

As far as I can tell it's basically Archer (which I love) but with a different premise (I mean, a lot of the same humor, lead character is essentially the same, etc.), but I just kept watching it and thinking to myself "Dumb. So dumb. This is dumb."

I should probably give it another chance and maybe I'll figure out why I didn't like it

Bojack Horseman has an overarching plot to it, about Bojack's, and many of the main characters', struggle with depression and in perusing happiness. This for me really sets the show apart from most other adult cartoons. Throughout the series the main theme has been consistent and they've successfully been able to explore the subject while keeping the show interesting.

I enjoy the fact that many of the major events unfold seemingly realistically too. I think this and the flaws of many of the characters really make them relatable. I.E.
Diane's book which Bojack hopes will make him popular and loved by the masses again doesn't do that.
Bojack is not able to stop Diane's wedding.
Herb doesn't forgive Bojack before he dies.
Bojack's visit to Charlotte doesn't turn out the way he fantasized it.
Bojack realizes and acknowledges that most of what he's wants would only give him fleeting happiness.
