Considering the rapid advancements in the various streams of technology, especially those which apply specifically to the evolution of our species, aka Transhumanism, I thought it would be a good idea to begin a thread highlighting those technological advancements which are on the 'bleeding edge' of technology.

I would like to begin with these two I came across from H+ Magazine...

The morphing tattoo is completely badass. You could set it with a default wallpaper so it looks like a real tattoo and change it anytime you want to :D

Or even better, have the display controlled by neural signals.

Though not there yet (four computers and not enough funds for conversion), I am more a Linux person.

Though discovered in April 2008, the memristor, the fourth fundamental component of electronics, is probably the most important one in that it carries the memory of its past, which can't be duplicated by any circuit combination of resistors, capacitors, and inductors. A memristor could possibly emulate the brain's synapse...

i thought texans communicated by means of belt buckles.

Until now we did! We had a very complex means of flashing Morse Code using the sun reflected off of large shiny belt buckles. It's the closest thing we could devise to actually having crotch to crotch communication, other then a bizarre puppet show that ended up being too complicated, very unsuitable for children, and difficult for communication across great distances (except for me, I had no trouble with the distance). The puppet show also required women to lay down but the women's lib movement took care of that one. :(

I'm looking forward to this, the Bionic eye. It's actually a contact lens.

A contact lens that works as an eye? (sorry, don't have time for link reading, now)

Actually it's like putting an LCD monitor in your eye. Imagine the possibilities!

A new contact lens embedded with electronic circuits could be the seed for "bionic eyes" that can see displays overlaid on a person's field of view, researchers say.

Reminds me of Artemis Fowl. Apparantly, if you're untrained you will throw up.
