Followed closely by Final Fantasy X and then GTA3. (you might not like it, but it nevertheless was a revolutionary game)

Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, FFX.

This is the latest console I own. Those are half my games, and the other half is comprised of Ico, We Love Katamari, and FFXII. I want to play Okami and the MGS's.

SSX (especially mountain), Tomb Raider, Tony Hawkes skateboarding (I used to work in a skateboard shop in Notting Hill building skateboards in the 80s ... I built Steve Reid (Douglas) some of his first skateboards)

(before you laugh at my choices, remember I am middle aged!)

Ico! I loved Ico, very poignant - I hired it once ages ago and never finished it - I might revisit it. I had a tiny TV at the time and couldn't really see the characters and environments well enough to play it (they are quite small at times as I recall) - but have bigger screen now. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Find it. I was lucky enough to find a used copy in a store awhile back for 10usd, but they're expensive online.

I'd say FFXII was better than FFX, but that's just my opinion. Visually, I think it brought the series to a whole new level. I also liked the ADB battle system more than the turn-based system.

Kingdom Hearts II is pretty awesome as well.

I bought Okami yesterday. I'm only about an hour into it but it's stunningly beautiful. I was bummed about the lack of progressive scan but there's a "LCD TV" option that actually helps quite a bit. I also bought Resident Evil 4 yesterday and I can't play it.. I'm such a wuss. As soon as I saw a woman who was pinned on the wall via a pitchfork in her head I had to shut it off.

I played Ico again last week and have decided it's definitely the best PS2 game I've played. Shadow of the Colossus is more impressive but Ico is a more pure experience. The Last Guardian seems like it will be more like Ico, which is exciting. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a PS3 by then.

I don't know if it has been mentioned already, but my pick for best PS2 game goes to Shadow of the Colossus

I just love the game; it's simple and fun, it has top notch art style and I love the entire isolationist atmosphere. Looking for the colossi inside caves, lakes, ruins, valleys or wetlands just brought me back to my childhood fantasies. I could spend hours just roaming the landscapes, frolicking on the ruins or exploring the ravines, deserts and valleys.

Beautiful game.

Shadow of the Colossus. I wish there could have been a sequel, but at the same time it probably would've been terrible. And there's going to be a movie? :slashnew:
Looking foreward to the Trico- project, though.

I never really understood what people saw in Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. After playing Ico for half an hour I grew incredibly bored and turned the console off. I've attempted to play it again and again but each time I grow bored and give it up. While SOTC is stunning and riding around the beautiful terrains is enjoyable I also find myself getting tired of it after a hour or so.

Just one? I really wouldn't be able to decide on just one.
I really liked MGS3, Persona 3, FFX, Shadow of the Colossus, and Katamari Damacy. The PS2 has a plethora of great games...

The draw of Ico, for me, is the beautiful sense of isolation. The castle is extraordinary. I'll admit to stopping after a half-hour or so the first few times I tried to play it, but eventually I finally played through and it just becomes beautiful. The views, the relationship with Yorda, the story (one of the best endings ever).. It's an experience that you have to choose to savor. It may not immediately pull you in like other games.

You guys make some compelling claims to Shadow of the Colossus. It was amazing the sense of dread I started to tie my actions to in the game towards the end. But you keep pressing on because it's a game and you are on a mission.

I want to say that game is the best, but I think Katamari Damacy tops it. Probably due to the music, and just pure joy in the game. Shadow of the Colossus is a better experience, but Katamari is more fun and fits my style more.

Plus that music... oh man... I'm going to roll up the moon again I think.

Oh Waterstiller, you're making me want to play Ico again. I've never heard of Shadow of Colossus and I was just thinking as the nights are drawing in, that I would like a new game to play. I will check it out. I like games with spaces to explore.

Kingdom Hearts anyone? I thought it was a brilliant RPG and very nostalgic with all the disney characters, whenever I describe it to people they cringe but it's a fantastic game :)

Sounds like I should get Shadow of the Collosus seems to have a lot of mentions.

Shadow of the Colossus. FFX and FFXII. Okami. Kingdom Hearts (I'd say both of them - hard to choose!).

And thanks to my niche interests, I have to say Gallop Racer 2004 was a stellar title too. :D
