defo a glitch, no reason why it would give anyone a 14, let alone somebody vaguely intelligent. The 14 comes from the fact that they're comparing (and getting something somwhere wrong) the score you get with the average 114 they've extrapolated from act scores.

So basically, regarding the ACT stuff, they are saying people who get an 18 on the ACT have an average intelligence of 114. That makes sense but seems a bit high because it is really only the average score people get on the ACT. In my high school years I was very depressed and also very apathetic. I didn't care about my grades at all or learning in general. 36 on the ACT is perfect right? Anyone have a guess what their IQ would be? I know people have done it before and am curious just how smart you would have to be in order to get a perfect score.

Also Thanks a lot Coolydudey for answering my basic annoying questions; I appreciate the sentiment regardless of the reason why you are answering my questions.

I have now taken this same test about 3 times and every time it has been different with different results  I think the questions are good but the test doesn't give super consistent results. I will probably take it a few more time as well just cuz I am curious how it will turn out.

Thanks for the link, that test was fun.

Taking into account the standard error of measurement, there is a 95% chance of your reasoning index (RIX) to fall within the following intervals:

119-129

<70 = extremely low
70-79 = borderline
80-89 = low average
90- 109 =average
110-119 =high average
120-129 =superior
>129 =very superior

I used process of elimination a lot in this test. I'll admit some of the questions really make you think to use Si and put it together; once you know what they are asking it is not that difficult to figure out what could be a possibility and what could not be one (there is only one right answer I know). Had I spent more time on some questions or used paper and pencil to work through the questions I probably would have scored better.

"That makes the estimate for your IQ 124 +/- 6."

I have no strong opinions on IQ tests. I just really like this quote from Albert Einstein:

'Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.'

I found those rotation questions a bugger :P

I dunno, I'm having issues with my loserdom cuz I got 126 +/- 6 and the internet says that's 'very superior'. What's scary is if I retook it I would not waste time on the ones I was having trouble with and score more answers correctly.

Maybe the site was made by INFPs who's plan is to make everyone feel better about themselves.

I got 127 (+/- 6) and a 35 on the ACT a few months ago, maybe could have gotten a 36 if I had studied much harder (I took 2 and 1/2 practice tests). I don't think IQ is strongly correlated with ACT though, as in some ways it's more of a knowledge test, and studying rigorously can improve your score upwards of 6 points. But if they are strongly correlated, then based on percentiles, very roughly, the IQ of an average 36-scorer should be >140. So I'll do my best to un-learn my IQ.

I received about the same score I have on other IQ tests (137 +/- 6). Interestingly, like usual, I completely bomb the spatial relations test (I probably left half of them blank).

My ACT score (taken in 1984) was 27.
I am 46.
I have been awake 13 hours.

Jesus christ this was difficult with the timer. But fun.

I got my IQ evaluated when I was 8. It was part of my diagnosis for ADHD. I got a 136 on that one, although because it was a children's test, who knows how accurate that is now.

But I don't really care about IQ. Putting a number on something that is an abstract concept is silly, although as humans we do love to categorize everything (ahem MBTI ahem ahem)

That said, on this test I got a 124 +/- 6. ALTHOUGH, I probably could have done way better if not for my visual impairment, which makes me go slower by default because 1- my face is 4 inches from the screen, and 2- my lack of depth perception has seriously fucked my ability to visualize and rotate 3d objects in my head, lol.

(Did anybody else find the ACT ridiculously easy? I got a 32.)

Fair enough.

If they were the general population, you would have an IQ of 113. However they are not, in fact the people who have taken this test are quite a selected sample. So here comes the fuzzy part that no on line IQ test does very well; we have to estimate how much higher the IQ of the people who take this test are than the general population.

Using self reported ACT scores, it seems that people who take this test have an average IQ of 114.

That makes the estimate for your IQ 127 +/- 6.

Seems reasonable, most of it was ok but the adding numbers part was very hard, only got about 60% through it, seeing the timer in the corner didn't aid my focus.

The Cogn-IQ gave me an IQ of 133. It measures more than spacial reasoning by the way. It also measures abstract reasoning.

I took this one awhile ago and got 141 +/- 6

I took a test in person and got 138. There are better tests out there insofar as IQ is relevant. I think if you are reasonably intelligent and motivated you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to within reason.

This one gave me "IQ 135 +/- 6"

Only sections I felt were rushed were arithmetic and rotation. I lost a lot of time on rotation cause I got stalled on one of the problems that I'm still fairly certain didn't have a correct answer. I think the key to arithmetic is scanning ahead and factoring out nulls (+7, -7) before you start the calculation which I didn't figure out till halfway through.
