I wrote an intelligent post and then I lost it.
Grrr.

To cut straight to the point I think Ultron in the upcoming Avengers 2 movie isn't a rouge Javis (Ironman's AI assistant) but rather a human being who has successfully "jumped the flesh" and gone digital. It's a crackpot theory I admit and it's based on what he says in the extended trailer about tying people up in strings, the extinction of the human race and finally "there are no strings on me".

It's the freedom motif of being without strings and the fact that Ultron appears to change bodies throughout the movie, it suggests he exists not as a physical entity but rather a program that can be transmitted, copied, edited, etc.

This could still be Javis but the sudden (proverbial) change of heart would seem strange and plotting to digitise everyone makes a great utopia-justifies-the-means villain, it would also explain why Thor and the Hulk seem hostile to Tony Stark in the trailer, maybe he isn't against being digitised?

I think some of the hostility is related to the next Avengers movie (3) called Civil War, based on the Marvel event where Tony pushes for heroes to be regulated by the government and Cap leads a group of rebels against the crackdown. (That happened a few years ago.)

I suspect Ultron is a triggering factor and/or also a sign of Tony trying to create robots that are controllable so as to avoid superheroes trashing the city again. Anyway, Tony ends up representing the government view.

I think everything in the trailer can be explained in that context, although it's not definitive.

The Vision is also appearing in avengers 2. You can read more about him here

Did you even read the comics, kid.

We saw the first one 25+ and were initially excited for the sequel but after they released the trailer the hype went way down; it looks somehow like a watered down re-hash. Supposedly Joss Whedon likes ruining things for people, I hear.

I thought Dr. Hank Pym (Ant-man) created Ultron?

In the comics, but they've shared that Tony Stark makes Ultron more intelligent or something like that.

Yeah... and I'm not sure how they are handling Pym in the movies -- they keep flipping around with directors and all that.

Ultron makes The Vision (supposedly from the remnants of the Original Human Torch). I don't remember all the details, I came into comics in the 70's but I didn't really read much Avengers until the mid-80's.

I highly doubt the movie will rehash a comic's plot, the whole superhero fiction industry is all about restarting the timeline and using the same characters to tell a different story.
