Basically the higher atom number the more energy it takes to create the element.
So naturally most of the universe has H and He elements.

Some elements in the table are made by humans only and have not been found in nature so far.

Actually fusion works all the way to iron. Over that you need to add energy to make heavier elements.

because that is what determines what orbital shells those atoms would have.

As far as I'm aware, conservation of mass still applies, because when you create antimatter, you create matter as well. So the matter you destroy, just gets replaced. This begs the question though - where is all the antimatter for the universe? Probably it will one day hone in on us and annihilate everything, so the thinking goes.

This was in our biology notes. Chemical evolution was something like this:
The earth and universe were formed by cosmic dust, radiation and ultra violet light & heat. The chemicals and metals settled in layers according to their weight. Gases and H2O formed From volcanic acids and other chemical reactions. The heaviest metals formed the center of earth.

the question of the day is what is everything made of (in the universe)

if you believe the ingredients are all in the periodic table, its probably wrong

stuff and matter on earth, probably yes, but beyond that no.

Time and causality might be separate. Time is your traversal of causality and there are many ways to traverse. Causality is physics, but if it was created out of nothing, like a metaphorical Big Bang, then maybe you can develop new physics that develops new causality, like changing the nature, breakdown, or interactions of supposed fundamental particles, or making them into something else. That would be fun. A lot more fun than people.
