Astrology Horoscopes

I thought of this because of a different thread, but, basically, the premise is that you read your horoscope based on when you were born and then see how well it lines up with what actually happens on that day. (fyi I know astrology means nothing; I just thought it'd be interesting.)

For instance, my horoscope for today as somebody born on June 21st (cancer) was

Mar 25, 2019 - You're becoming much more perceptive, Cancer. At the same time, your psyche and unconscious knowing are also more acute. You may find that you know more about the way someone feels than that person does. More than likely, this sort of perspective is causing you to want to take aggressive action in order to shake people up and help them open their own eyes to the situation at hand.

Observation: "My unconscious knowing" is typically quite acute, actually. I wouldn't say it's getting to be any more so. I have no clue how people feel until it becomes obvious. I'm not taking any aggressive action towards other people because I can't be bothered.

Tomorrow, apparently...

Mar 26, 2019 - A letter or call from a relative could result in the prospect of an unexpected houseguest. You might be in a quandary as to what to do about it, Cancer. Your schedule could be crammed with other responsibilities. Don't feel pressured into making any decisions today. Think about it for a day or so and list your options. Consider them all and then make your decision.

We'll see. I'm a minor, so I find that situation doubtful. Although, my schedule is usually fairly "crammed". I have minimal contact with or knowledge of the lives of relatives, though, so if I do receive a letter or call that'd be pretty sp00ky.

Here's mine:

A relationship with a close partner may get a bit confused, Taurus. You could react quickly to a situation without really thinking before speaking. Which is spot on, because I'm having a lot of friction with someone at the moment.

But here's a plot twist: I'm not taurus. I chose a sign by random and tried to see how closely I can match it with my personal life. I find this fun for some reason.

this first sentence is very correct, but then again, I'm usually always dealing with confusing intellectual problems. I guess following this advice, I should stop believing stuff I read in mathematical papers. Fuck you, mathematicians, you're all trying to bullshit me!

Hmm, so my horoscope today was inaccurate (I suppose the day isn't completely over yet but I doubt it'll change).

I didn't receive any call or letter from a relative; I did see at one point today that I had three missed calls, but I checked them and, sadly, they were all from "scam likely". Actually, it's kind of amusing that the exact opposite of the horoscope's other prediction happened. I received practically no homework, so my schedule's pretty light.

I'm somewhat disappointed; neither of my horoscopes have come true so far. It'd be way more interesting if they were freakishly accurate, but nope. Although, here's something more exciting: the site I'm using for these horoscopes claims,

"I Tried a Rose Quartz Dildo and It Was EVERYTHING"

I'm kind of astounded, actually. Does this person really believe that pieces of rock open windows into her soul? I guess that's no less outlandish than astrology though; maybe I'm simply more exposed to signs and shit.

Hmm... I didn't see my boyfriend much today, but when we were hanging out I talked about eating sentient fruits and jokingly pretended to castrate him. Did this increase our communication or generate a new sense of closeness? Not that I know of. Aside from that, the closest friend who currently lives in my immediate area suggested I accompany him while he went on a Pokemon Go raid (yes, he still plays the game), but it turned out he severely procrastinated leaving for the raid and, since he had to meet up with other people, ditched me to speed away on his bike (I was on foot).

Images and ideas contributing to my creative self-expression... hmm... the only creative thing I did today was start doodling Lord of the Rings characters on the back of a quiz after I finished. Did the ideas come from deep within? Shrug.

I usually solve these issues with large amounts of caffeine, and today is no exception. Besides that I feel my brain is working very well today and everything is going according to plan, so that one was quite far off (but I don't doubt that people who usually read horoscopes tend to be in a swirling maelstrom of confusion)

From what I can see horoscopes are based upon a very simplistic reading of astrology to a point the information it provides is basically arbitrary; I don't see much reason to buy into horoscopes even if you do into astrology as a field.

As a whole system I've been surprised at how complex astrology is and how much specific insight I've found from researching into all of the planetary / house positions and relationships of my natal chart. It's a much more nuanced portrait of personality than I've found in personality types, as an example. Appreciate people in this thread might have good reason to doubt the utility of it as a system but as a fun 'what if...' exercise you might get more out of that than reading horoscopes.

Hmm, today wasn't all too terrific; I've pretty much be engaged in some form of work (practice for a concert, homework, reading for school) since I woke up. Not terrible, but not terrific either. Mar 29, 2019 - Nothing is too hot for you to handle, but why do you insist on burning your hand when you don't have to, Cancer? Are you trying to prove to someone that you can take the heat without being affected by it? You can get burned just as easily as anyone else even if you deny it. Do things for you and not to prove something to other people, especially when it comes to matters of love and romance.

Uhhh...? I'm trying to remember if I did anything to prove myself that ended up "burning me"... I took a physics test that was for the most part fairly easy, sat around feeling bored out of my mind while my English teacher went on about some random ass stories about his life... Hmm. I couldn't focus in calc, so I sort of started doodling instead of paying attention to the lecture, so I'll have to catch up later. That wasn't done to prove anything, though... Yeah, I don't see it.

I'm a November Scorpio. I started learning my own astrology instead of relying on other, random people who probably don't know that much. I haven't looked that much into it. Actually, recently I've been looking a lot into it. I thought about how to reconcile it with being INTP in the dating scene. I always thought it was interesting that there are associated body parts, with Scorpios's being the eyes and genitalia. I've found it true in that the according body parts with the signs correlate somewhat. They don't always "stand out". This is basically information I was saving for my own book, so you'll basically see it there again if you happen to read it.

Another example is Gemini, and their body parts are the shoulders and arms, or so I've read. I don't know that many but the ones I have seen did have something like shoulders or arms that stood out.

I think it's that people get mad because Scorpios have the "genitalia" which is metaphorically their stinger. Then, you can say something like "Capricorn" or "Aries", or "Sagittarius" and "Leo" are "also sexual signs or beasts" because of their animal nature or fiery passion. It's only that, and they don't have the defense of a poison tipped tail.

Everyone can also get horny, they then say or bring up as the next complaint that it isn't fair. They aren't Scorpios though, so nothing really stands out besides trying to believe "hard work" makes you earn someone's hand or just enough money to visit a slut-whore house if you don't or can't just have any chemistry with anyone.

So it's horseshit because I was always a scientist like Carl Sagan, and just looked into it more to see what the truth is. I might go more into it in a book I might write, or just post here. It's better to socialize on forums I thought, instead of trying to be the smartest person there or discuss philosophical-scientific "intellectual" deep conversations. Paying attention to what people tend to want or how they behave in civilization patterns shows what's important or what works, or what you should do. I don't like the "anonymous" style of horoscopes. It can obviously be used to that person's advantage not only by telling people what they want to hear, but also just manipulation through rumor and myth, passing off convenient thinking through impossible expectations to make it seem like they're original. That "Jesus gives you the clothes off his back" stuff, only goes so far.
