My ex used to always accuse me of asking 'leading questions' during debates/discussions. I don't consider them to have been so though. They were just questions who's answers lead to my hypothesis.

I've recently been wondering if this is a valid tactic/method to be used whilst debating.

of course, as a form of absurd reduction

you figure some necessary consequence of any consistent application of their argument and then you ask "is this really what you want? HUH?"

usually they go "but no it's not the same thing!" without being able to explain the distinction. then you've won. it's the easiest win.

It's valid, and fun. Unless your questions dont actually lead to legitimate answers.

Lets say the answer is X, and you argue Z, and she argues Y; midway thought you ask a question that validates Z and it appears that you've won.

But, you didnt.

It just appears that way because at the time both parties are unaware of a third position. And usually, the INTP knows this immediately AFTER he's made an ass of himself.

And he always chooses to shut his mouth, because being right is better than explaining why he rode so hard for a false idea.

Meh.
