No. Good writers are measured by their sales, deals, followers and awards not personalities or techniques.

fake dichotomy

writing can be conversation as in an IM chat... or mail or even books if you stretch it that far but no need

but assuming you mean speaking vs writing i would say INTP's are in general better with writing.

"depends on the individual" just dilutes your poll.

Possibly. It depends on my mood.

If it's an arguement and i can get myself interested to play, I will talk, otherwise i'd rather re-read your current event opinion. The message doesn't get through clearly enough with voice for me and honestly I can never care much to listen, takes too much focus on something supposedly pleasant.

Forums are nice.

Absolutely. As a strong INTP myself, my thought processes are very slow. I need time to digest my thoughts and organize them. Writing allows the individual to do so at one's own pace.

Conversation is too much pressure, you need to respond in a timely manner or your partner gets bored. So my responses tend to be forced and unnatural.

I agree with this.

I currently belong to a discussion group of 3 or 4. I'm fine with conversation because (1) I know the people and (2) since that knowledge is imperfect I need time to think. Being 3 or 4 people I can think while others are talking outside of me. We will cancel the group if only two can show up.

^Yep, same with me. I can be very good at conversation in a group, but one on one I am useless. I like having others to fill in the gaps, so I can speak whenever I feel inclined.

I do very well in one on one situations and poorly in groups (because I get nervous and don't know what to say). Generally, in social situations I try to find someone to talk to who can reply in a way that gives me something to chew on. Not only for the time of the current conversation but also for the time afterwords. I also try to find individuals who have interesting things to say intellectually, though by some, I tire of hearing their fictitious stories. If I can get an interesting person to talk to, I will listen intently and wait until they tire of talking and share some things that are on my mind related to what they said. I love talking to experts in their respective fields if they bother to give me the time. I say this from a non-MBTI perspective of course and my interest in what people who categorize themselves as INTPs opinions has been is worth while so far.

As to writing, I typically go the short condensed version that try's to get individuals something to chew on themselves. I don't typically have very much to offer because I am not much of an expert in any field. Most of what I write comes from my mind, not my knowledge on the subject.

Honestly though, I live for stimulating communication whether by writing or by conversation even though I am labeled as a deep introvert. People are fascinating to get to know if you can understand them.

I don't like the way the question and responses are worded. To answer yes would mean that you think every single INTP in the world is better at writing than speaking. There are probably thousands if not millions of INTPs in third world countries who can barely read and write if at all who are obviously going to be better at speaking. Really, there's almost no statement you could make about INTPs that won't have exceptions. That's why I voted that it depends.

That said, I think the vast majority (at least in first world countries) are better at writing than speaking.

I write more than I speak. Does this show I am better at either of these?

It would be a false generalisation, INTP might have a tendency to be better writers, but that would require a lot of data to ascertain.

And better in what regard, convenience, quality, quantity, etc.

It depends on the individual. I think there are two types of INTPs in the social scene: the forthright and the uncommunicative.

I prefer conversation in person(one on one). Especially with people who are on a similar wavelength.

When I write things, I'm always going back and correcting myself. This makes for slow going and high energy use. It's easier to talk quickly and keep up with my thoughts.

Even while writing this short answer,
this is how many thought I had: --------
vs
how many thoughts I expressed: --

Although I may also have some psychological blocks from childhood when it comes to writing. Not sure.

@Turnip.

I am very similar to you in this regard.

I find I have so many things that I can talk about but either people are not interested in intellectually stimulating conversations, rather that they prefer emotionally charged and small talk conversations.

My analysis thus far of the the poll is that is a 16.5:22 ratio that peoples opinions on this forum think that INTPs are better writers than conversationalists. This is given that when it depends on the individual it would be 1/2 for yes and no. In reality I would guess it is closer to 2/3 INTPs are better writers give or take ~12%. I would say it would top off at about 4/5ths and I would estimate that it doesn't fall below 4/7ths. I didn't really do any calculations so correct my math if it is not accurate.

I would say the cause to this is because INTPs are intellects and there is more of an outlet for the common INTP to discuss intellectual discussion in the form of writing communication rather than speech. This depends largely on the environment of the INTP of course.

Sensi star expressed my opinion and situation.

The other thing with conversations including more than two people is that I while I polish off what I want to say, the conversation runs away and my sentences become potential derailment or just outright weird. Though they would have been great about thirty seconds ago.
