This probably has been something more than once posted, but I made this account like... exactly 8 minutes ago. So bear with me!

I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone else shares this issues, we're all INTPs... I'd like to know if it's a personality issue!

First things up! No one ever listens! I personally don't believe it's because I'm a quiet person, because there are people who are just as quiet as I am - or even more so (Like the neighborhood INTJ) - but just nobody will listen to me when I say something. It's not what I'm saying, either, people will just talk over whatever I'm saying like I wasn't saying anything to begin with. This also leads to many complications... like when you manage to have someone's attention and they misunderstand you (Which happens so often!) and then refuse to let you clarify for them and end up having all these accusations (i.e. now you're a liar!) all because someone wouldn't listen to you talking. Anyone else having the issue where you can't grab anyone's attention and when you do, anyone else can simply budge in and absorb all attention? Like some evil dark lord ruler of attention...

This also leads to, as I've mentioned, misinterpretation. People will misinterpret whatever you say - not like they were listening anyway, right? - and more problems arise. You're now a liar because someone didn't listen to everything you said. Or you're some retarded moron (This absolutely bothers me when someone calls me a moron, but it happens all the time! Anyone else?) because what you meant didn't come out right. Granted, when I speak I talk a bit fast and slur my words (in any hopes of defense for this, I am from the midwest) and I mumble a bit, but I'm more than happy to clarify, which I tend to do anyway with a lot of ramblings to try and make sure everyone understands while I have their attention. ( Though for some reason, this still doesn't work!) Because of these, I'm often considered a moron. Though, I try to think otherwise... that I'm some secret lord genius... Aha... if only.

And something else I'm just curious about. Anyone else get so bored? Not even bored, really, just... lacking of something. I'm a heavy multitasker, and I'm sure it's an INTP trait, even if I can't actually cope with doing multiple things at once and have full attention over each - I just have to do it. While watching a movie I have to be playing a game on my phone or whatever just to distract every once in a while when things slow down. This also leads to eating quite a bit when bored because hey, what am I suppose to do? I don't really care all that much about appearance (And I'm not a big person!) but even I have to admit, it's a bit of an issue. So, for future reference, what do you do when you're bored?

I get ignored a lot too.
Since I'm on the outside and people think I'm fragile(so they won't tell me) I can only assume it's a lack of respect because I don't meet their standards of acceptable and share their hobbies.
But I've also had occasions where the same people that ignored me have gushed over me to other people without knowing that I was listening so perhaps it is that when we speak they are simply disinterested in the unfamiliar complexity.
I also have a theory that most people want to be heard to be heard, so the people who want to be heard will naturally be better at being heard than the people who want to simply reason out loud with other people.
I'm actually naturally pretty quiet without trying to be or noticing so that's probably another contributor.
So
Do with that scatterbrainedness what you will, but I'm sure someone else will have a more applicable sciencey answer.

I actually cannot recall the last time I was bored, I have my brain to entertain me and daze off into space constantly because I enjoy it. As long as I have a reasonable amount of unexplored information, I'm always content.

I tend to daze off, as well. But I'm always trying to redirect thoughts because I think waaaaaaay to much. Daydreaming about TV shows pretty much, altering it like... well, basically fanfiction. Though that hardly is enough to hold my attention.

THEN FUCKING YELL IN THEIR FACE SO THEY HEAR YOU.

Don't do that, just be more assertive. Speak loud and clear.
what do you do when you're bored?
I like to play competitive video games. It's good sensing development.

Sounds to me like you just need to be more assertive.

Loud and clear...

Oh.. I don't know if that's in my capability range...

Like I'd probably think I was screaming, "HEY, SO HOW ABOUT THAT GEOMETRY QUIZ?"

And really it's more like "hey, so how about that Geometry quiz"

And then I'd think I was pronouncing so clear that I'd deserve an award, "I don't always speak clearly, but when I do, it's the most amazing thing in the universe."

But really it's more like "Idontalwaysspeakclearlyerrrrrrbutwhenwerrrridoitsthemostamazingthingintheuniverseandcuntishiwaaaaaa"

Most of the time I don't even get bothered by interruptions anymore unless I or someone else is already a minute or more into an explanation and some third party barges in with some bit of pointless/trivial information. Now if the person I am talking to interrupts me for no good reason, I feel ashamed of my judgement of that person's cognitive abilities and make a mental note of it. It doesn't happen all that often, because I rarely talk.

As for being bored- doesn't happen all that often unless I am doing some task I do not like and it requires enough of my attention that I have to stay anchored in the real world, but still leaves enough resources for me to be aware of what's happening.
Being bored just because there is nothing to do doesn't last long. For example, I would move my hand and realize I don't know how I am doing it. Am I doing it? Am I at all? Where I am? I know my location as it relates to my room, city, planet, Sol, but if someone from another galaxy where to ask where do I live, I wouldn't know where to begin.
This goes on until I zone out while I am zoning out, something in the real world happens that grabs my attention or I come to a conclusion that I am the creator of everything and destroy the universe out of spite. That last one doesn't happen all that often.

Why would you watch a movie if it doesn't interest you? Is it akin to a homework assignment?

I can't say I relate to the first two. There was a brief time as a child when I had trouble with people not listening to me, but I grew out of it by learning to look for my in. For the most part people I know IRL think I'm smart, and really care about what I think on pretty much any topic. I've also gotten good at talking myself out of misunderstandings. But maybe people where I live are just easier going.

There are going to be people that just think you are dumb. Usually heavy S types. But, even they can come around. You just need to alter details and context for your audience. It could also just be an insecurity that is making you view the world through a, "Everyone thinks I'm dumb" lens. Also, you could be trying to interact with a bunch of idiots. It's not usually worth it to interacted with chimp brained people.

As for getting bored. I totally hear you. Tabs on top of tabs on top of tabs on top of tabs on top of tabs..... I use cannabis to narrow my focus. I can sit down by myself in my dark bedroom and listen to music for hours, or I can detail clean things at work, and be completely content and focused. But I also don't count day dreams as losing focus. That's my most favorite activity of all. I've embraced that side of myself.

I never used to have a problem with a constant need for more and more stimulation, but the internet awoke a monster in my dna. Internet porn sped it up, and reddit feeds it's mindless desire, with cat pictures and off color humor (4chan did a little of both:rolleyes:). Nicotine and caffeine, probably don't help the matter.

Cannabis probably is a mature solution, but it makes me happy. I know it doesn't seem to help a lot of people with their focus. But it works for me right now. Not sure I'd be a functional person, these days, without it.
