hi all,

i know its common that INTP types find philosophy and associated learnings alluring. now i was keen to find out if this also captured anthropology.

its a topic that fascinates me - specifically paleo anthropology but my interest does go wider - unfortunately picked up only in the last few years.

i feel the interest is intp related, with trying to understand myself in the broader context

are others interested in this, and if so in what shape / fashions?

any book tips also

thanks

Generally speaking, other human beings are the last thing INTPs want to study. I say that tongue and cheek, though, since it's possible that INTPs are curious about human history. I am to some degree, but as I have such a broad spectrum of interests, it doesn't take high precedence.

Sometimes studying human historic culture can be a nice for either getting to know the roots of what you believe (for me, that's Christianity) or for story telling. For example, I'm told JRR Tolkien wrote the Lord of the Rings as a history of Europe, and the cultures of the nations in the story line up remarkably with their real life counterparts in various ways (for example, the Elves of Rivendale are actually the Swiss). So studying historic human culture can be interesting and useful in that sense. Perhaps the downside is that you learn alot of less interesting things along with it.

But, in short, you can still be INTP and be interested in this stuff. Typism doesn't say anything about interest. It might tell you what sort of approach you might take to become interested in something, but it won't tell you what you will find interesting. That's all a matter of what you see in it.
