now, you're probably thinking you have a grammar nazi on your hands. But I am no such thing. I believe that a grammar nazi is someone who likes to complain about grammar mistakes at every opportunity that they get, as a way of appearing smart or whatever. I never complain about grammar mistakes (except this one time), I just get annoyed by them.

1: this is the biggest one and it drives me fuckin crazy: pronouncing et cetera as "exetera". Was that exetera I just heard? Sir/madame, have you ever looked up what "etc" means, considering you're using this word every day?? There's no goddamn exetera there. It's quite impressive how prevalent this mispronunciation is. When I hear someone pronounce it correctly though I know this is a real homie, someone I can vibe with.

2: Spelling "lose" as "loose". Not the biggest mistake but looks slightly stupid nonetheless.

3: This is a more subtle one but really separates the real G's of language from the rest. Using "was" instead of "were" when talking about a hypothetical scenario. Like, if you say "if I was rich I would buy a ferrari", you're saying that if you were rich in the past you would buy a ferrari. The correct version is "if I were rich I would buy a ferrari".

probably many others but I'm forgetting them right now

1. haven't seen exetera/ haven't noticed
2. i always make a point of doing this correctly, notice when other err. also to lose a volley of arrows lol, where did they run off to billy?
3. guilty af here at times even in formal writing, wonder whether it has do with 2nd language or is an all pervasive misuse

My dream is to make a rogue-like game called rouge legacy and watch the world catch fire.

Misusing Peace and Piece, Life and Live, to and too, and for the love of god please use the Oxford coma.

Also I have a beef with the word y'all even if it is grammatically correct.

Yeah, I've got a strong preference for Oxford comma. When people don't use it I need to re-read their sentence because I assume a particular structure in its absence.

I try not to care about spelling and other stuff so long as the intent is clear. I view it as a sort of implicit classism or intellectual posturing (not that I'm in any way above either of these).

i'm not english but i'd say i g0t a fair grasp of the tongue, when i see spelling errors and bad grammar in a work it does irk me. clarity and flow enhances a piece, you don't go painting with a fucked-up brush, or actually u can, but that's the thing about language: it's not visual, it's a system, so any obfuscation of that system lessens the efficacy of your tools. i like good language.

that said, esp. with webnovels, i'd say language and grammar take a back seat to content in many cases, a well-worded boring tale gets less eyes than a poorly edited smut fantasy or whatever.

in normal online convos tho it doesn't bother me, as long as if i get u it's all good.
