That's the fault of the carriers, not Android. The one good thing Apple did that I respect them for is telling Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint to fuck off, and refusing to add bloatware to their phones. Android has so many different makes and models that the manufacturers don't have the power to do the same. From my limited experience with my phone running an old version of Android (Gingerbread), I have to say I think it's shit. Oh boy, for a supposedly open OS, I have a fuck ton of useless apps in the phone memory that cannot be deleted unless I root the phone, and for some retarded reason, you cannot install apps directly onto the SD card even though there is an option for that.Oh, and the app permissions are absolutely creeptastic. Well, tis Google after all.
I'm running Cyanogenmod 11 atm
That's the fault of the carriers, not Android.
People are quick to yell and whine about permissions and privacy issues, but they rarely stop and think how much that functionality improves what apps can do. I like that my phone knows where I am and tells me it's a 12 minute drive home, and can give me local weather. I like that I don't have to re-enter all my contact information when I switch to a different app. I like that my camera app can access my camera. I like that my keyboard app can view tons of my own writing so that it can provide better predictive text.
Yes, some apps *could* do creepy things with your information, but you have to realize, nobody fucking cares about you, individually.
That's partially true, but also naive.
Lmao, obligatory Patriot Act joke
Nothing I've noticed. There have been a couple random bugs I've found here or there, but none of them repeatable. They recently completed a stable upgrade for my phone, but I haven't gotten around to updating it yet. Probably should.Do you have any problems with your phone going into sleep mode? I recently upgraded from 10.2, and ever since my phone won't go into sleep mode as it should. at first I thought there was some insidious app in the background, but it wasn't. I'm obsessed with monitoring and app permissions and what apps I install.
Anyway, I have found (for some unknown reason) that wiping the davlik cache and rebooting the system from CWM temporarily fixes the problem. However, on a normal or hard reset, it refuses to go into sleep mode. This is an annoying because I have to boot into recovery mode, wipe the davlik cache, reboot the system, and wait for the apps to update.
wiping the davlik cache form the command line before a normal restart doesn't work. It all has to be done from the recovery console. It's driving me nuts. Haha.
