Are you an individualist? Perhaps a little curious? Maybe even a little nerdy?

or

Are you trendy? Maybe a bit of a conformist? Perhaps a little too cool for school?

Symbian rulz. :D I need Android though. I plan to expand my skillset in Android Dev, thus I will probably get it later this year. I don't like iphone because I cant develop apps for it. OK, I can but I see it as a waste of time to learn Objective C and not use it anywhere else. Meh.

I use and program all three concurrently (incl Windows mobile/CE)

Windows best programming environment, then iOS and Droid. iOS best user experience, then Windows. Google has no clue when it comes to operating systems

ios simply because it is simple and the horizontal integration with all of apples products. Haters like to call it the walled garden but the way I see it is, a system that rewards you the more integrated you get with it. At this time I currently own an iPhone, MacBook Air, Mac mini, iPad, and Apple TV. It's nice to be able to work on one device and pick up where I left off from another (not saying other platforms don't offer it but I feel it is best executed by apple). I also love that I can respond to iMessages from my laptop when I'm working. There was a time when I liked to tinker with technology but nowadays I prefer to spend that time doing other things.

Oh and I'm all of the above classifications plus lazy.

I think iOS is better suited for the general populace. iOS is generally safer and more user friendly precisely because it is so locked down.

I don't like Apple's totalitarian philosophy but they do make high quality products. People love their iMessage and Facetime. Apple Store is also superior to the play store.

With that said I like control over my devices; I am currently running the custom rom cyanogenmod (my own version of it; I removed most stock apps before flashing). Nothing beats android in terms of customizability. However, if you don't know what you're doing, it can be very dangerous because it is so open.

When I flash roms for technologically illiterate friends and family, I always the use the official (but de-bloated) stock rom and remove root access before handing it over. I only temporarily root it to access the HOSTS file.

As for PC's. I'm a Windows guy (love Windows 7, HATE metro). I love Linux for mobile devices but nothing beats Windows on desktop/laptop machines. My setup is bit idiosyncratic, so I'm won't bore anyone with it, but I do remove all Windows bloat and disable or remove useless services before installing it.

Android. Google is hardly perfect, but Apple's MO stands as anathema to everything I believe in. On my own phone, I'm running Cyanogenmod 11 atm, and on my computer, Ubuntu; I like things open source, collaborative, and free. I'm really curious to see how Ubuntu does with it's upcoming tablet OS; I think it has the potential to bring some fantastic things to the mobile sphere.

From my limited experience with my phone running an old version of Android (Gingerbread), I have to say I think it's shit. Oh boy, for a supposedly open OS, I have a fuck ton of useless apps in the phone memory that cannot be deleted unless I root the phone, and for some retarded reason, you cannot install apps directly onto the SD card even though there is an option for that. :ahh: Oh, and the app permissions are absolutely creeptastic. Well, tis Google after all.

That's the fault of the carriers, not Android. The one good thing Apple did that I respect them for is telling Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint to fuck off, and refusing to add bloatware to their phones. Android has so many different makes and models that the manufacturers don't have the power to do the same.

People are quick to yell and whine about permissions and privacy issues, but they rarely stop and think how much that functionality improves what apps can do. I like that my phone knows where I am and tells me it's a 12 minute drive home, and can give me local weather. I like that I don't have to re-enter all my contact information when I switch to a different app. I like that my camera app can access my camera. I like that my keyboard app can view tons of my own writing so that it can provide better predictive text. Yes, some apps *could* do creepy things with your information, but you have to realize, nobody fucking cares about you, individually.

Do you have any problems with your phone going into sleep mode? I recently upgraded from 10.2, and ever since my phone won't go into sleep mode as it should. at first I thought there was some insidious app in the background, but it wasn't. I'm obsessed with monitoring and app permissions and what apps I install.

Anyway, I have found (for some unknown reason) that wiping the davlik cache and rebooting the system from CWM temporarily fixes the problem. However, on a normal or hard reset, it refuses to go into sleep mode. This is an annoying because I have to boot into recovery mode, wipe the davlik cache, reboot the system, and wait for the apps to update.

wiping the davlik cache form the command line before a normal restart doesn't work. It all has to be done from the recovery console. It's driving me nuts. Haha.

My phone isn't tied to a carrier.

I'm talking about apps such as Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Talk, etc and I'm pretty sure they're there by Android's design. I'm sure a lot of people find them very useful but as far as I'm concerned I don't use these services and I don't like the fact they are undeletable and inconvenience me.

I can just say: good for you. I don't use most of these services.

Wow!

You fucking told me. :)

That's partially true, but also naive.

Geolocation on photos enabled by default? Sure, why not? It's not like someone ignorant isn't going to know about it, and inconvenience/hurt themselves.

Nothing I've noticed. There have been a couple random bugs I've found here or there, but none of them repeatable. They recently completed a stable upgrade for my phone, but I haven't gotten around to updating it yet. Probably should.
