I just found out that I was INTP. Which I'm really glad I did, because I was thinking about why my personality is so different from all of those around me for a couple of months. And when I read the description of INTP it fit me to the t, so it really lifted a load off my back.

So for the past few days now I've been researching all the different types, and now I want to start discussing. This place seems cool enough, so I'm going to bunker down here, and start dueling the minds of other INTPs.

So, hello!

I'm a sophomore in college, studying computer science. I enjoy all types of music, but I have a deep love of jazz, if you couldn't tell already. I play instruments (Guitar, bass, drums, sax, mandolin; though I'm not a virtuoso by any means.) in my free time, when I need to stop thinking.

But enough of that. What are the norms and standards on this board? any heads ups on what not to do?

Welcome to the forum!

I wish your thread title had been "Please allow me to introduce myself," from a song I'm particularly fond of; 'Sympathy for the Devil.'

The mandolin is a very neat instrument btw.

So, hello!

Hello and welcome.

What are the norms and standards on this board?

We have standards?!? Norms?!?!

any heads ups on what not to do?

1. Be irrational
2. Be intellectualy dishonest

any heads ups on what to do?

(You didn't ask that but you should have)

1. Avoid lor at all costs, she just want to suck the soul out of your body. Yeah, that is as good as it sounds :cool:

2. Don't take I.B. seriously most of the time. He's an intolerable prick.

3. Tell us how much you love us. We can't get enough of that touchy feely stuff. <-------See what I mean regarding #2?

4. Just pretend you understand what this implies :elephant:

What are the norms you ask? *grins*

Manual of the INTPForum Norms:

The Forums:

Let's face it, there is overlap of all other forums inside every forum. It seems quite impossible for us all to stay on track :p - so don't sweat it too much if you go on a tangent - as all aspects of existence are interconnected in some form are they not? There are no lines save those we draw ourselves only to try to categorize this reality and better understand it.

But *ahem* still, its best to contain things like humor in the Fun forum, as they can derail the more profound topics. And if you absolutely must unleash chaos and violence, there is the ARENA. I'm sorta reminded of the Colosseum and gladiators when I think of that place; basically anything goes there. XD

The Members:

1. Beware of Melkor!

2. Watch your language with Noddy. Give him no opportunity to twist your words. He will not hesitate to.. er.. "defile" them. *shivers*

3. Fear Lor from the very depths of your soul. :phear:

4. Stay on Saffy's good side. Don't let her angelic wings fool you.

5. Reverence the lovely Nia and listen to the words of Snow - there's much to be learned from them, as well as EditorOne.

6. Do NOT let Tekton do "SCIENCE" to you. *has PTSD episode*

7. Don't volunteer for any of Cog's "experiments" either.

8. If you find a dead mouse lying around, don't touch it. Chances are it's probably Fleur's and I doubt she'd be very happy if you took her lunch.

9. There's also the romantics, which may or may not be in denial about it; Crimson, Sapphire, Adair, Cog, Kidege, Fukyo, Anthile, Phantome, Cryss, Ermine, Waterstiller, Snail, Lor, Melkor, and many others I'm missing.. ^^;

10. And lastly, Cheese is good in moderation. =]

EDIT: Also, don't believe a word IB tells you! :)

Well, Miles Davis is king. And Milt Jackson is his high priest.

Melody Gardot, and Madeleine Peyroux are very good singers.

Gus Viseur is awesome, but only if you enjoy accordion.

And Auburn is the chorus master of the forum with his special artistic talent and sensibility. He once rendered an artistic impression of the members here and incorporated them into an INTPf rogues gallery. :)

Hey Auburn ;)

Hi Jazz. Don't listen to Auburn, he's a sociopath and compulsive liar, and I shouldn't have left him out of his cage.

Although, I must say, he does look rather nice in a lab coat. Just a lab coat. *cue sexy jazz music*

Ermine, all INTPs are closet romantics. :phear: 'Tis true.

I'm not familiar with this soul slushie you speak of. Is it anything like purple slushie? Because purple is my favorite flavor of slushie.

I like most everything really. I can't really say I have one favorite song,its like saying you love one child more than another. But how would I know what that feels like anyways? But I guess my favorite song at the moment could be Fel del av garden by Movits!. It's a catchy swedish swing / hip hop song.

Hi Jazz and welcome - what a wonderful set of responses you've elicited from forum members so far!

Auburn - I'm a romantic too!! Unashamedly so ... only life and lost loves have hardened my shell. The cracks have started to show since I've been hanging out here though.

I love Miles Davis too. Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek are big favourites. Can I suggest checking out the Robert Mitchell Trio?

the quality is a bit pants but it's definitely worth watching till the end just to see Mitchell's hands becoming blurs. The drummer Richard Spaven is a genius in my view.

And Omar Puente.

Purple?

err... colour rather depends on the nature of the soul... f'rinstance:

Melkor = black soul slushie.

Noddy = blue.

IB, Fukyo = pink. (Doesn't get any pinker than IB, my friend.)

Saffy, Fleur = blood red, but entirely different flavours - Saffy is exceedingly sweet and Fleur has an aftertaste of strychnine...

cheese = beige.

...but for purple?

Would that be the divine and otherwordly mauve-purple of Auburn, with his aftertaste of marshmallow...

or the deep, passionate, crazed and lustfully unbalanced, greasy-overtoned purple of Cognisant?

Personally I like a blend, but I recommend you try a little of each alone before getting too carried away. Some are toxic in certain combinations.

Somehow I find the idea of having a pink soul comforting. I was worried mine might be colorless.

But what about yours?

I'm thinking either battleship grey or aquamarine. Why? I don't know but I get this vibe....

I used to be aquamarine, but now mostly battleship grey where the shadow has taken over...

:phear:

What about Jazz? The colour of a Morrocan curry perhaps?

Why the am I beige? Is it because of my fondness for skin? Or yet another comment on my blandness of self.

Well, I'll just shake my wrist over it, does that make me red enough for you!!!1

lor is silvery-grey, with splashes of green.

On your period again?

And don't pretend it's just blood. I've been speaking to your carpet.

No, it's not just blood, it's also entrails. Sometimes I eat a half dozen Big Macs followed by drinking a fifth of cheap bourbon. I don't bother searching for the porcelain god, I never find him anyway. That explains the carpet.
