What are your favorite adventure games? Why is that your favorite/s?

I need a colorful or feelgood adventure game. I'm so tired and miserable

I do enjoy creative games. I did like Okami, Shadow of the Colossus and Katamari.

GO

Okay, I guess I could write a little about what I enjoy about those games.

Okami is a typical fairy tale story (in regards to how it's built up, actually that probably doesn't make sense to foreigners) with interesting visuals and gameplay that was new to me at that time. Since I was a child, I've been very fascinated by fairy tales and mythology. Also, wolves are kewl

SOTC has a very distinct feel to it. Isolation, tranquility, largeness. The concept is fairly intriguing as well. The story doesn't reveal much, you have to try to figure out a lot about the story for yourself. Which can be very interesting. It's also interesting to read some of the theories of others after you've played it.

Katamari is a crazy game with a crazy soundtrack it's impossible not to be happy even if you want to be a 10/10 cool goth with dark hair and dark soul

Besides Shadow of the Colossus, I would consider Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Journey to be essential. You'd probably like Journey for the same reasons you like SotC, it's highly immersive, the artwork is beautiful, and the atmosphere is full of isolation and mystery.

I suppose I don't need to say much about the others, they're pretty much classics. Ocarina of Time and Super Metroid have amazing soundtracks alongside everything else great about them.

Heavy Rain - Partly adventure. I love it mostly for the noir/detective themes.

Uncharted series - There's lots of cinematic action and detailed scenery, plus some puzzles along the way. A must play if you're a fan of Indiana Jones movies.

Tomb Raider - The newest one isn't so groundbreaking gameplay wise, but the various environments on the island are pretty fascinating.

Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sonic Adventure 1 - I'm not sure if these count, but they are definitely fun. It was great going to the mystic ruins in Sonic to listen to the soundtrack.

Assassin's Creed - It's history, mystery, religion, and action all rolled into one. If it wasn't for the repetitive missions, I'd consider this one to be essential for its themes, environments, characters, and story. I don't think any other game has captured the 'historical thriller' featured in movies like Angels & Demons, Da Vinci Code or National Treasure.

Quest for Glory. Point and click adventure. I started with the second one. Kings Quest. Same style (and apparently sierra is coming back as a studio or publisher?

Graphics are immensely outdated now, but yes, I was a big fan of Quest for Glory due to the humor and emotional content of the storylines, plus it had some customizations (you could play as different classes, you had to build skills, and there were multiple solutions to problems).

Skyrim creates a great sense of adventure, though can be a little grindy at times if you let it. It's been awhile but there's a theme in there with werewolves.....or vampires.....or both, can't quite remember.

Dragon Age: Origins also creates that sense of adventure and isn't grindy at all. Story and character development are top notch, and there's a good portion of the game related to werewolves as well. (not sure why i'm fixating on the werewolves thing)

As mentioned the old Zelda games have been some of my favorite adventure for a long time, particularly Ocarina of Time. Supposedly Darksiders is supposed to be like a modern, dark Zelda. Have it but haven't played it yet.

Zork. Yep, that's right. Don't knock it till you've tried it!

Feel-good, colourful adventure games:

I was satisfied with Braid (though maybe not the 3D adventure you had in mind, it was very entertaining none-the-less)

I heard some good things about "Brothers-A tale of two sons". I've had an eye on it, but haven't tried it out yet

I've heard that SOTC was kind of a sequel/prequel whatever of sorts. I've been interested in seeing if I can find the game ICO, which somehow ties along with SOTC. <-Not exactly sure of this, may need more research.

That cartoon-animated prince of persia for the pc?

@mithrandir
Vampire storyline in skyrim is probably the dawnguard dlc while the werewolves are the companions guild
Werewolves in dragonage origions is part of the quest for the elves to join the fight against darkspawn.

I know this because those are the two series i was going to recomend. Elderscrolls and dragonage.
