My recommendation is to spend time thinking about your overall focus in life. What do you want to eventually achieve? What is the best way to make moves forward given then incomplete picture of what you hope to achieve?
Listen to the messages your psyche sends you. You'll probably get inspiration that lasts temporarily and will imbue you with ideas for the future. You'll find times when you want to be more actively doing something and times when you just want to think and times when you want to more mess around.
I think the important message is that doing nothing can actually be a quite effective means of doing something. Maybe it won't work for you, but there are so many ideas hidden in your mind about what you could be doing, and by just sitting with yourself you'll allow these to permeate to the surface. Things will start clicking and the goal is to get something to set your sights on long-term. Of course there will always be challenges and perhaps a sense that one is behaving poorly, but the overall theme will transform positively as you learn.
So, sit, ask yourself what you should be doing, see what you come up with. Maybe you'll get something good, maybe you won't. Try it again at a later time and see if you get new answers. Ask yourself all sorts of questions to really get your mind going and see where it leads you
