Its too much for most of us. Same with school. And retirement age needs to be lower than 65 or 70. Three and a half days or Four seems good enough. Because you need to balance personal life and work life. Telework s/b allowed for some of it too. Saves a lot of gas and pollution and expense.

So you want to work less and retire early, how does that work exactly?

Personally my plan is:
  • Buy a 1000 square meter block of land in the cheapest most middle-of-nowhere outback town I can find.
  • Build a well insulated house out there with solar panels, rain water tanks, a septic tank, raised garden beds to grow crops and an enclosure to keep chickens in.
  • Pay off the mortgage on my near city apartment.
  • Move to my outback house.
  • Rent out my apartment.
  • Reverse mortgage my apartment.
  • Self-fund my retirement with that and my superannuation.
  • Live a mostly self sufficient lifestyle so my money goes as far as possible.
Because the truth is you're free to work as much or as little as you want, and to retire as soon as you want, the real question is what kind of life (if any) will you have?

I work 24 hours per week. It's pretty banging. At least for me, I actually enjoy working when it's part-time.

Perfect point.

Retirement at 60+ is just cray cray idea, but it has been implement here too. I don't know what will be or whether I will reach that age, much less whether I will be able to enjoy it.

I think I will go that route as well.
I tried working full time overtime and had zero energy to enjoy the spare time.

i think labor hrs should be used as a form of alternative accounting, other than money.

there are people who worked their ass off and get compensated little.

nevertheless, weekend is probably not enough rest.

I work in technology specifically in design & UX. I'd recommend digital if you're looking to go that part-time route just as technology pays well. I still earn more than the average Londoner part-time and could afford a mortgage on a small property.

I'm not showing off, I just mean if part-time is what you want to do technology is a good environment to do that within.

Thanks for the advice. I am looking for a solution, so I will consider this.
