So here we are, officially in the 21st Century and almost at the end of the first decade. What are your thoughts? Do you enjoy having the internet almost anywhere you go? Do you hate having your mom facebook you (mine does)? Modern living ain't easy. But it's not so bad either. :)

Well it's a little early to judge the century and hard to judge whether the pros outweigh the cons at this point. There is a lot of promise in technology but so much of it is wasted in frivolous uses (twitter, text messaging? Really?) I wish a longer term outlook was taken rather than immediate market gimmickry.

Woah you've got beef with texting!? Texting saves me from having to actually talk on a phone...so personally I love it. Along with Instant Messaging. I can't imagine communicating without these devices!

I avoid the need for such excessive communications. So much of it seems superfluous. I had a cell phone for less than a month. I delighted in destroying it! The cost vs. benefit ratio of such devices is to me, slanted to such a degree that cells are the biggest rip-offs I can imagine.

Mechanical snake oil I say!!

Yeah, but everyone else (or at least the vast majority) has become dependent on constant connectivity through cellphones and such, and one of the consequences of that is that no-one seems able to keep an appointment anymore. They're good for emergencies, too, although those don't really crop up too often (with any luck). Can't say I see the use of Twitter either though... "Hi, I'm eating lunch now!" So? Why do I care? ;)
