I've tried that, perhaps it's okay for women but for a guy those sites are incredibly depressing, if you're not obviously loaded or drop dead gorgeous you just spend months sending out messages, occasionally getting one back, a second reply if you're lucky, then nothing, just as you think you might be getting somewhere they just cut off all communication.
I'd rather go to a bar and get slapped in the face for my efforts, at least then if I had done something wrong I'd know what it was.
Getting no feedback at all just makes a guy feel generally worthless, not even worth rejecting with a simple "goodbye".
