Despite what a lot liberals believe there are some intelligent conservatives in the world. I follow this site's postings on facebook and it is usually high quality, dealing with history from an intellectual POV, more than contemporary politics...

Under the category, of "know your enemy' it could be worth a perusal and it is also a good site for generating OPs for new threads/discussions, perhaps (?) for example, the current posting is about ethical labor and the value of rhetoric... Look at the index in the left column.

Interesting, especially when most conservatives just fall back on the old party line instead of offering a decent argument. However, I find that both sides do that just as much as each other.

California. Its hot here.
I've seen both sides of the fence and have noticed a lot of Liberals don't offer up a decent argument. I am a Conservative myself, but I will agree most Conservatives do the same. The friends I enjoy hanging out with the most are the ones who will openly debate politics with me; regardless of whatever party they sympathize with.
As for everyone else this list is basically everything that has been proven to me:
Stupid Conservatives believe all Liberals are stupid and wrong.
Stupid Liberals believe all Conservatives are stupid and wrong.
Almost no one stops to think there might be a legitimate reason that the "stupid" ideas of the other party exist.
Almost no one also considers the fact you can be wrong and smart.
Half the people who do recognize the last two facts have to have it pointed out to them- AND they will only agree if the fact supports their case before forgetting about it forever. If it doesn't they will most likely dismiss it altogether.
Both parties often tend to contradict themselves through their words and actions as is human nature. It is impossible to not contradict yourself in some sense( okay, many senses) during your life. No human, and certainly no human idea has been perfect.

Clearly Political party has nothing to do with intelligence. Rather I think it has more to do with that person's idea of ethics and personal agenda.

I might call myself a deontological libertarian. Think of that as Immanuel Kant meets Charles Murray. Anyway, The Founding Fathers, and their collective influences like John Locke, were closer to actually conservatism than today's republicans. The notion that war, surveillance agencies and entitlements like Medicare fail to qualify as big government is ludicrous. How republicans can squeal for less intrusion and demand vaginal probes is beyond me. I think both sides (i.e., the liberals and MSNBC juxtaposed with the "conservatives" and Fox News) are equally ideological, close-minded and pandering. With the electoral college and Citizens United in place, though, it's hard to give a fuck about voting and the semblance of democracy in the United States.

I agree with this. For example: Conservatives support pro-life beliefs saying that all humans have a right to life, while at the same time supporting the death sentence, saying that someone doesn't have the right to live. On the other hand, many Liberals support pro-choice beliefs saying that a baby (arguable, yes) doesen't have the right to live, while at the same time a convicted murderer might.

In conclusion, each of the parties is a paradox, supporting contradicting beliefs of itself.
